ԵՊՀ-ում ընթացող խմորումները, հատկապես այն, որ երեկ հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի նիստի օրակարգը չհաստատվեց, ու նիստը հետաձգվեց, առաջացրել է վարչապետի և հատկապես ԿԳ նախարարի զայրույթը: «Փաստ» թերթի տեղեկություններով, առաջիկայում նոր, ավելի լայն թափով գործընթացներ են սպասվում: Մասնավորաբար, ամեն ինչ արվելու է ռեկտորի հրաժարականին հնարավորինս արագ հասնելու համար: Ինչ վերաբերում է թեկնածուներին, ապա թուրքագետ Ռուբեն Մելքոնյանից բացի, ակտիվորեն շրջանառվում է նաև ԿԳ նախկին փոխնախարար, այժմ ԱԺ պատգամավոր Հովհաննես Հովհաննիսյանի անունը, ով ժամանակին համարվում էր ԵՊՀ հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի նախագահի հիմնական թեկնածուներից մեկը: Հովհաննիսյանը ներկայումս զբաղեցնում է ԱԺ կրթության, գիտության, մշակույթի և սփյուռքի հարցերով հանձնաժողովի նախագահի տեղակալի պաշտոնը, սակայն ի սկզբանե իշխանությունները, ավելի կոնկրետ՝ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը խոստացել էր հանձնաժողովի նախագահի պաշտոնը: Մեր տեղեկություններով, հիմա արդեն ուզում են «կոմպենսացնել»՝ խոստանալով ԵՊՀ ռեկտորի հաստիքը: Ի դեպ, առաջիկայում, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, կյանքի կկոչվի ԵՊՀ կանոնադրության՝ վաղուց մտադրված փոփոխությունը, ըստ որի, դոկտորի գիտական կոչման պարտադիր լինելու հանգամանքը, որը գործում է այսօր, վերանալու է, և գիտությունների թեկնածուի կոչումով հնարավոր կլինի զբաղեցնել ռեկտորի պաշտոնը: Սակայն, մեր աղբյուրների պնդմամբ, համալսարանում, այդ թվում՝ հոգաբարձուների խորհրդում շատերը դեմ են այս թեկնածությանը, ինչն էլ երեկվա ձախողման պատճառներից մեկն է:
