ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը ստորագրել է Կոնգրեսի կողմից ընդունված օրինագիծը, որով Միացյալ Նահանգներն ուղղակի աջակցություն է ցուցաբերելու Մերձավոր Արեւելքում բնակվող քրիստոնյաներին, եզդիներին և այլ փոքրամասնություններին։

«Այս օրենքը շարունակությունն է իմ վարչակազմի աշխատանքի, որով ԱՄՆ-ի օգնությունը հասցեական ուղղվում է հալածվող համայնքներին»,-ասել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը:

«Ամերիկայի ձայնը» հաղորդում է, որ ստորագրման արարողությունը ներկա է գտնվել նաեւ Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու արքեպիսկոպոս Վիգեն Այկազյանը:Նրա խոսքով՝ ԱՄՆ-ի օգնությունը նախատեսվում է  բաշխել ինչպես Սիրիայում և Իրաքում բնակվող արդեն փոքրաթիվ քրիստոնյա համայնքների, այնպես էլ հալածանքների պատճառով այլ երկրներ տեղափոխված քրիստոնյաների և եզդիների միջև:

«Նրանք, ովքեր գաղթական են, պետք է օգտվեն այս աջակցությունից»,-ասել է արքեպիսկոպոսը:

Ստորագրման արարողությանը նախորդած զրույցներում պետքարտուղարության ներկայացուցիչը հատուկ ընդգծել է Հայաստանի ներդրումը Մերձավոր Արևելքից  քրիստոնյան փախստականներին ընդունելու գործում: Հայաստան կատարած այցից հատուկ տպավորված էր ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահի ազգային անվտանգության հարցերով խորհրդական Ջոն Բոլթոնը:

Ինչ վերաբերում է նախագահ Թրամփին, ապա հայերի մասին նա լավ էր տեղեկացված:

«Երբ ասացի հայ եմ, ասաց՝ օ, հայերը խելացի և աշխատասեր ժողովուրդ են»,-հավելեց արքեպիսկոպոսը:
