Այսօր Երեխաների պաշտպանության միջազգային օրն է

Ամռան առաջին օրը՝ հունիսի 1-ին, աշխարհի շատ երկրներում նշում են Երեխաների միջազգային օրը: Սա ամենահին միջազգային տոներից մեկն է:
1925թ. Շվեյցարիայում տեղի ունեցավ Երեխաների բարեկեցության համաշխարհային կոնֆերանսը, որտեղ հունիսի 1-ը ազդարարվեց որպես Երեխաների պաշտպանության միջազգային օր:
Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմից հետո, երբ երեխաների բարեկեցության եւ առողջապահության պաշտպանության խնդիրները առավել քան արդիական էին, 1949թ. Փարիզում տեղի ունեցավ կանանց կոնգրես, որտեղ մասնակիցները երդում տվեցին պայքարել խաղաղության պահպանության համար՝ որպես երեխաերի երջանկության երաշխիք: Իսկ 1950թ. հունիսի 1-ին առաջին անգամ նշվեց Երեխաների պաշտպանության միջազգային օրը:
Երեխաների իրավունքների պաշտպանությանը վերաբերող բազմաթիվ միջազգային փաստաթղթեր են ստորագրվել, որոնց թվում են 1959թ. ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի կողմից ընդունված Երեխայի իրավունքների հռչակագիրն ու 1989թ. Երեխաների իրավունքների մասին կոնվենցիան, որով, ըստ էության, երեխաները համարվեցին հատուկ խոցելի խումբ:
Հայաստանը Երեխաների իրավունքների մասին կոնվենցիան վավերացրել է 1992թ., որից հետո՝ 1996թ., ընդունվել է «Երեխայի իրավունքների մասին» ՀՀ օրենքը: Այդ օրը հանրապետության տարբեր մարզերում, ինչպես նաև մայրաքաղաքում բազմաթիվ միջոցառումներ են կազմակերպվում:
