Մենք գիտենք, որ...

Եգիպտոսի թագուհի Կլեոպատրան այնպիսի գեղեցկուհի էր, որպիսին աշխարհը չէր տեսել: Ժամանակակից ֆիլմերում նա ներկայանում է որպես հմայիչ և անգերազանցելի գեղեցկուհի:

Իրականում այնքան էլ այդպես չէ:

Ճիշտ է՝ կանանց մասին այդպես չեն արտահայտվում, բայց ճշմարտությունից հեռու չես փախչի. պարզվում է՝ Կլեոպատրան ոչ միայն գեղեցկուհի չի եղել, այլ ընդհակառակը՝ եղել է բավականին տգեղ կին: 

Կլեոպատրա 7–րդ Ֆիլիպատորը (մեր թվարկությունից առաջ 69–30 թվականներ) հելլենիստական Եգիպտոսի վերջին թագուհին է, ով սերվել է մակեդոնական Պտոլոմեյների (Լիգատների) ցեղից: Նրա կառավարման տարիների վերջում Եգիպտոսը նվաճվել է Հռոմի կողմից, իսկ Կլեոպատրան ինքնասպանություն է գործել, որպեսզի չընկնի Օկտավիանոսի ձեռքը:

Կլեոպատրան, ըստ մեզ հասած նրա պատկերների, եղել է մի քիչ գեր և ոչ արտահայտիչ դեմքով կին: Հնէաբանների կողմից գտնված նրա արձանիկի վրա ուրվագծվում է մանր աչքերով, երկարավուն դեմքով և արծվաքիթ արևմտյան տիպի կին: Նրա պատկերով մետաղադրամների վրա նկատվում է սապատավոր քիթ և սուր կզակ: Վերջերս անգլիացի գիտնականների կողմից հաստատվել է, որ նախկինում անհայտ կանանց մեկ տասնյակ արձանիկներ ևս հանդիսանում են Կլեոպատրայի արձանիկները: Դրանց միջոցով պարզվել է, որ Կլեոպատրան 38 տարեկանում եղել է 152 սանտիմետր հասակով, սև մազերով և փչացած ատամներով գիրուկ կին: Ըստ հետազոտողների, այդպես էլ պետք է լիներ, քանի որ նա պատակնում էր Պտոլոմեյների տոհմին, որոնք գեղեցիկ արտաքինով և մարմնակառուցվածով առանձնապես չէին առանձնանում:
