Նյու Յորքի Քուինզ քաղաքում բացվել է «Արմենիա» անվամբ փողոց
SOCIETYՆյու Յորքի Քուինզ քաղաքի փողոցներից մեկն անվանակոչվեց և անվանվեց «Արմենիա փողոց»: Այսուհետ այսպես է կոչվելու Սրբոց նահատակաց հայկական եկեղեցու հարևանությամբ գտնվող փողոցը: «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ, Ամերիկայի ձայնը հաղորդում է, որ եկեղեցու բակից հայ համայնքի անդամները, եկեղեցու հովանու ներքո գործող դպրոցների ներկայացուցիչները , Նյու Յորքի քաղաքային խորհրդի անդամ Բերի Գրոդենչիկը, ով մեծ ջանքեր է գործադրել փողոցի անվանափոխման գործում, Քուինզի քաղաքապետարանի ներկայացոըցիչները, հոգևոր հայրերն ուղևորվեցին դեպի «Արմենիա» անվամբ փողոց, որտեղ և տեղի ունեցավ պաշտոնական բացումը:
Փողոցը վերանվանելու առաջարկն արվել էր եկեղեցու հոգևոր հովիվ Տեր Աբրահամ քահանա Մալխասյանի և եկեղեցու հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի կողմից 2015 թվականին Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-ամյակի կապակցությամբ: Դիմումն ընդունվել էր, սակայն գործընթացը երկար ժամանակ էր պահանջում, անհրաժեշտ էր փողոցի բնակիչների համաձայնությունը: Համապատասխան ստորագրություններն ունենալուց հետո, քաղաքապետարանն ամեն դեպքում մերժեց առաջարկը, սակայն երկու տարի անց, երբ քաղաքապետը փոխվեց, որոշում կայացվեց նորից դիմել:
Հայերը բավական հայտնի են Քուինզում: Ամեն տարի տեղի հայերը բազմաթիվ միջոցառումներ, փառատոններ են կազմակերպում, որին մասնակցում են տարբեր ազգերի ներկայացուցիչներ: Քուինզում ապրում է մոտ 15 հազար հայ:
