Այսպիսի սենսացիոն հայտարարությամբ է հանդես եկել ՆԱՍԱ-ի ու Ազգային անվտանգության գործակալության տիեզերական ռիսկերի գծով փորձագետ Էրիկ Նորթոնը, ով 12 տարի շարունակ եղել է տիեզերական ռիսկերի գծով պատասխանատու փորձագետ (օրինակ՝ Երկրին մոտեցող գիսաստղեր և երկնաքարեր)։

2013 թվականի հունվարի 22-ին Տեխասում գտնվող Մաք-Դոնալդ աստղադիտարանից նա հայտնաբերել է Չբացահայտված թռչող օբյեկտների հսկայական նավատորմ, որոնք շարժվում են մեր մոլորակի ուղղությամբ։ Ըստ նրա՝ տիեզերանավերը պատրաստված են մեզ անհայտ մի նյութից, որն անասելի խտություն ունի, իսկ ինֆրակարմիր սքանավորումը ցույց տվեց, որ ճառագայթները բեկվում են դրանց ուժային դաշտից, ինչպես Երկիր մոլորակի մագնիսական դաշտի պարագայում է լինում։

Երբ դրանք մուտք գործեցին Արեգակնային համակարգ, գիտնականներին հաջողվեց անել դրանցից մի քանիսի աղոտ նկարներ։ Տիեզերանավերը Լ-աձև էին, սակայն ի զարմանս գիտնականների՝ դրանք շատ արագ անհետացան։ Դա Նորթոնի մոտ կասկածներ է առաջացրել, որ այլմոլորակայինները նաև տիրապետում են անտեսանելիություն ապահովող տեխնոլոգիաների, ու եթե ընդունենք հավանականությունը, որ տիեզերքում հայտնաբերված օբյեկտներն իրոք այլմոլորակային տիեզերանավեր են, ապա դրանում ոչ մի զարմանալի բան չկա, քանի որ միջաստղային ճանապարհորդությունների մակարդակի հասած քաղաքակրթության համար նման տեխնոլոգիական լուծում գտնելը պետք է որ խնդիր չլինի։

«Ես գիտեի, որ մեր իշխանական վերնախավում անհանգստացած են այս եզրակացություններով, ուստի զարմանալի չէ, որ Գաղտնի ծառայությունը միշտ հսկում էր ինձ։ Մենք ամբողջ 2013 թվականն անցկացրեցինք երկնքին հետևելով, քանի որ մենք առ այսօր չգիտենք, թե ինչ է կատարվում, և ուր են կորել նավերը։ Իմ հաշվարկներով, եթե նրանք պահպանեին ուղղությունն ու արագությունը, արդեն վաղուց պետք է տեսանելի լինեին նույնիսկ անզեն աչքով, բայց մենք անգամ չենք կարող ասել, թե արդյո՞ք նրանք մեր համակարգում են, թե՞ լքել են այն»,–հայտարարել է Նորթոնը։ Մեկ տարի անց մենք տեղեկատվություն ստացանք, որ նավերից մեկը հայտնվել է Լուսնի վրա ու պատահաբար ներառվել էր «Google Moon» լուսնային ատլասի մեջ։

ԱՄՆ-ի Պաշտպանության նախարարությունը ՆԱՍԱ-ի հետ համատեղ արդեն 3 Orion 15 (2014 թվականին հունվարի 15-ին) հրթիռներ է ուղարկել, ինչից հետո ձեռք բերված բոլոր տվյալների վրա դրվել էր «Հույժ գաղտնի» կնիք, իսկ Նորթոնին արգելեցին բարձրաձայնել այս բացառիկ հայտնագործության մասին։ Ու դա զարմանալի չէ, որովհետև եթե դա հայտնի դառնար լայն հանրությանը, ապա մեծ խուճապ կարող էր սկսվել։ Բացի դրանից, ամերիկյան իշխանությունները, ինչպես ցանկացած այլ իշխանություն, չի սիրում կիսվել գաղտնի տեղեկություններով։

Նորթոնը, սակայն, որոշեց չլռել, բայց ԱՄՆ պետական մարմինները սրա լուծումն էլ են վաղուց գտել. նրանք պարզապես չեն արձագանքում նման արտահոսքերի ժամանակ՝ թույլ տալով, որպեսզի հասարակությունը բաժանվի հակամարտող կողմերի, որոնցից մեկը հավատում է, իսկ մյուսը թերահավատորեն է մոտենում՝ համարելով սա հերթական դավադրության տեսությունը։
