Մարդու կողմից ստեղծված ամենամեծ կառույցը կա՛մ Քեոփսի բուրգն է Եգիպտոսում, կա՛մ էլ Չինական մեծ պարիսպը:

Իրականում այդպես չէ:

Պարզվում է՝ մարդու ստեղծած ամենամեծ կառույցը աղբավայր է: Դա Նյու Յորք քաղաքի Ստեյտեն–Այլենդ կղզու Ֆլեշ Հիլզ աղբավայրն է: Այն բացվել է 1948 թվականին և ժամանակի ընթացքում դարձել է աշխարհի ամենամեծ աղբավայրը: Դրա տարածքը կազմում է 12 քառակուսի կիլոմետր: Ի սկզբանե այդ տարածքում այգի էր: Քաղաքային իշխանությունները ցանկանում էին վերացնել այդտեղի աղուտները՝ աղի մեծ պարունակությամբ հողը, և հետագայում տարածքը օգտագործել քաղաքաշինական այլ նպատակներով: Նախատեսվում էր այն որպես աղբավայր օգտագործել միայն երեք տարի: Սակայն ժամանակի ընթացքում աղբավայրը սկսեց անկառավարելի մեծանալ: 1970–ականներին այդտեղ տեղափոխվում էր ամբողջ Նյու Յորքի տնտեսական և արյունաբերական աղբի կեսը. օրական մտավորապես բեռնաթափվում էր 650 տոննա աղբ: Արդեն 1986 թվականին այնտեղ օրական բեռնաթափվում էր 29 000 տոննա աղբ, իսկ աղբավայրը ուներ 650 բանվոր: 1991 թվականին Ֆլեշ Հիլզ աղբավայրը արդեն միակ աղբավայրն էր Նյու Յորքում: Այդ տարիներին աղբի բարձրությունը 25 մետրով գերազանցում էր ԱՄՆ–ի խորհրդանիշի՝ Ազատության արձանի բարձրությանը: Եթե այդպես շարունակվեր, ապա աղբավայրը կդառնար ԱՄՆ–ի Արևմտյան ափի ամենաբարձր ետը: Տեղական բնակչության բողոքների շնորհիվ այս աղբավայրը 2001 թվականի մարտի 22–ից դադարեց գործել, բայց նույն տարում վերագործարկվեց 10 ամսով, որպեսզի այնտեղ տեղափոխվեն 2001 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 11–ի ահաբեկչական ակտի պատճառով կործանված Միջազգային առևտրական կենտրոնի երկնաքերերի մնացորդները: Ներկայումս Ֆլեշ Հիլզ աղբավայրի օգտագործումը դադարեցված է: Այժմ այն կոչվում է Ֆլեշ Հիլզ այգի: Անհնար է, որ այն որպես աղբավայր հետագայում օգտագործվի, քանի որ ընդունվել է օրենք, որը արգելում է Նյու Յորք քաղաքի տարածքում աղբավայրի գոյությունը: Իսկ ահա աղբի վերամշակումը շարունակվում է: Միևնույն ժամանակ աղբավայրը բարեկարգվում է և վերածվում է զբոսավայրի ու արգելոցի: Աղբավայրում ստեղծվելիք Հայ–Լայն զբոսայգու լանդշաֆտային ճարտարապետը Ջեյմս Կորներն է: Ըստ նրա նախագծի, նախկին աղբավայրի տարածքը բաժանվում է 5 գոտու և յուրաքանչյուրն օգտագործվելու է ըստ իր նշանակության և առանձնահատկությունների, ընդհանուր տարածքը կազմելու է 890 հեկտար: Այգու ստեղծման աշխատանքներն սկսվել են 2003 թվականից և ընթանալու են 30 տարի: Այստեղ արդեն իսկ բացվել են բասկետբոլային, հանդբոլային, ֆուտբոլային հրապարակներ և հեծանվային ուղիներ: Նախատեսվում է, որ 19 հեկտար տարածքում ստեղծվելու է արևային էլեկտրակայան: Աղբավայրը փակելուց հետո այդ տարածքի ֆաունան և ֆլորան զարգանում է: Արդեն իսկ այստեղ առկա են 250 թռչնատեսակ, մանր կաթնասուններ, սողուններ և երկկենցաղներ: Անգամ շրջակա տարածքներից այստեղ տեղափոխված եղնիկներ կան:
