Վաշինգտոնի մայր տաճարում անցկացվել է սենատոր Ջոն Մաքքեյնի վերջին հրաժեշտի արարողությունը: Ինչպես ներկայացնում է DW.com-ը, սեպտեմբերի 1-ին սգո թափորն ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսից սկսած անցել է Վաշինգտոնի փողոցներով՝ ժամանելով տաճար:
Սկզբում կայացել է հրաժեշտի փակ արարողությունը, որին ներկա են եղել մի շարք հայտնի քաղաքական գործիչներ ԱՄՆ-ից և այլ երկրներից: Նրանց թվում են եղել ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահներ Բարաք Օբաման, Ջորջ Բուշ կրտսերը, Բիլ Քլինթոնը, փոխնախագահ Մայք Փենսը, Գերմանիայի Բունդեսթագի նախագահ Վոլֆգանգ Շոյբլեն, Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Պյոտր Պորոշենկոն, Վրաստանի նախկին նախագահ Միխեիլ Սաակաշվիլին:
«Մաքքեյնն ինձ ավելի լավն է դարձրել որպես նախագահ, ավելի լավն է դարձրել Սենատը, ավելի լավն է դարձրել երկիրը», - իր ելույթում շեշտել է Օբաման:
Արարողությանը ներկա են եղել նաև Մաքքեյնի 106-ամյա մայրը՝ Ռոբերտա Մաքքեյնը, դուստր Մեգան Մաքքեյնը և այրին՝ Սինդի Մաքքեյնը:
Հիշեցնենք, որ ամերիկացի սենատորը կյանքից հեռացել է օգոստոսի 25-ին՝ 81 տարեկան հասակում:
