SOCIETYԱնվանի հայազգի ֆիզիկոս, ֆիզմաթ գիտությունների դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր, ՌԳԱ ակադեմիկոս Յուրի Հովհաննիսյանի կարծիքով՝ Հայաստանը կարող է լիդեր լինել ռադիոիզոտոպների արտադրության և մոլեկուլյար ախտորոշման ոլորտում: Հովհաննիսյանը նման տեսակետ հայտնեց «Արմենպրես»-ի հարցին ի պատասխան:
«Իզոտոպները պետք են դիագնոստիկայի համար: Հայ ժողովրդին դա շատ անհրաժեշտ է: Երկար ժամանակ շատերի հետ աշխատում ենք, որ Ռադիոիզոտոպների արտադրության և մոլեկուլյար ախտորոշման կենտրոնը Հայաստանում աշխատի և ժողովուրդն անցնի այդ դիագնոստիկան: Կենտրոնը մեզ համար նոր է, սակայն զարգացած երկրների համար նոր բան չէ: Աշխարհում 50 այսպիսի կենտրոններ կան: Մենք չենք ուզում հետ մնալ: Համոզված եմ, որ մեր ժողովուրդը պակաս չէ մյուսներից, և մենք կարող ենք լիդեր լինել»,-ասաց Հովհաննիսյանը:
Նրա խոսքով՝ այն, ինչով պիտի աշխատեն կենտրոնում, տարբերվում է մյուսներից: Դրանով կարելի է և ուսումնասիրել, և բուժել: Հայ ֆիզիկոսները սպասում են, որ բացի բուժելուց դա կարող է ինչ-որ նոր բան առաջարկել:
Անդրադառնալով ՀՀ քաղաքացիություն ստանալու փաստին՝ անվանի ֆիզիկոսն ասաց, որ կարծում է՝ մեծ նշանակություն չունի, թե որտեղ է մարդն ապրում: Նրա կարծիքով՝ շատերը, ովքեր Հայաստանից դուրս են ապրում, կարող են ավելի շատ օգուտ տալ:
Հովհաննիսյանը նոր տարրերի (104-108 ատոմային կարգահամարով) արհեստական սինթեզի բնագավառում կատարված 11 հայտնագործությունների համահեղինակ է։ Ղեկավարել է ծանր միջուկների արագացուցիչների ստեղծման աշխատանքները և հետազոտել այդ միջուկների ռեակցիաների մեխանիզմը, տրոհման շարժառիթները, էկզոտիկ միջուկների հատկությունները։Նրա պատվին է անվանվել Մենդելեևի պարբերական համակարգի 118-րդ տարրը՝ oganesson (Og): Օրեր առաջ ՀՀ վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի հրամանով անվանի ֆիզիկոսին տրվել է ՀՀ քաղաքացիություն:
