ՄԱԿ-ը եւ միջազգային հումանիտար կազմակերպություններն սպառել են փախստականներին օգնություն ցուցաբերելու իրենց հնարավորությունները: Այդ մասին, հայտարարել Է ՄԱԿ-ի՝ փախստականների գործեր գերագույն կոմիսար Անտոնիու Գուտերեշը՝ նոյեմբերի 3-ին ելույթ ո ւնենալով համաշխարհային կազմակերպության Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի 3-րդ կոմիտեում:

Նրա խոսքով՝ ներկայում աշխարհում կան 60 մլն փախստականներ եւ ներքին վերաբնակված անձինք, ընդ որում մարդկանց հոսքը շարունակում Է աճել: «Միայն վերջին հինգ տարվա ընթացքում ամեն օր իրենց տները լքող մարդկանց թիվն աճել Է գրեթե չորս անգամ՝ 2010 թվականի 11 հազարից անցյալ տարի հասնելով 42,5 հազարի:

Դրան զուգընթաց հումանիտար կարիքների ավելացումը հանգեցրել Է այն բանին, որ մարդկանց կարիքներին արձագանքման գլոբալ հնարավորություններն սպառվել են»,-ասել Է Գուտերեշը:

«Նույնիսկ միավորելով իրենց բոլոր ռեսուրսները՝ միջազգային հումանիտար հանրակցությունը՝ ՄԱԿ-ի գործակալությունները, Կարմիր Խաչի եւ Կարմիր Մահիկի ընկերությունները, ինչպես նաեւ ոչ կառավարական կազմակերպությունները, այլեւս ի վիճակի չեն մարդկանց ապահովել բազային պաշտպանությամբ եւ նրանց տրամադրել ամենաանհրաժեշտ օգնությունը»,-ընդգծել Է գերագույն կոմիսարը: 

Թվարկելով այն հիմնական պատճառները, որոնք հանգեցրել են Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի ավարտի ժամանակներից ի վեր մարդկանց ռեկորդային վերաբնակեցման, նա առաջին հերթին նշել Է «Սիրիայի եւ Իրաքի փոխկապակցված մեգա-ճգնաժամերը», որոնք հանգեցրել են ընդհանուր առմամբ 15 մլն փախստականների եւ ներքին վերաբնակների ի հայտ գալուն: Այժմ դրանց ավելացել Է Եմենի հակամարտությունը, որը տարեսկզբից շուրջ 2 մլն բնակիչների հարկադրել Է լքել իրենց տները, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
