Ռուսաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Ջոն Հանթսմենն աշխատում է ամերիկացի հանրապետական սենատորների՝ Մոսկվա կատարելիք այցի ուղղությամբ:
Ինչպես հայտնում է Коммерсант-ը՝ վկայակոչելով ամերիկյան աղբյուրը, դեսպան Հանթսմենն այն քչերից է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի վարչակազմում, որոնք աջակցում են Վաշինգտոնի և Մոսկվայի փոխհամագործակցությանը: Այցով Մոսկվա են պատրաստվում ժամանել սենատորներ Ռիչարդ Շեբլին, Ջոն Նիլի Քենեդին և Ջոն Հուվենը:
Սենատոր Հուվենի խոսքով՝ Հանթսմենը ցանկանում է, որ ամերիկացի գործիչները Մոսկվա այցելեն «հասկանալու համար այն, ինչ տեղի է ունենում»: Նա մատնանշել է, որ ներկայում մշակվում են նախատեսվող հանդիպման մանրամասները:
ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի պատվիրակությունների այցերը Մոսկվա դադարեցվել էին 2016-ին՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահական ընտրություններից հետո բացված «ռուսական գործի» պատճառով:
Նշենք, որ Դոնալդ Թրամփը օրեր առաջ հայտարարել էր, որ մոտ ապագայում հնարավոր է կայանա իր և ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հանդիպումը: Այս հայտարարությունից հետո Սպիտակ տան աղբյուրը հայտնել էր, որ Թրամփի խորհրդականները ոգևորված չեն Պուտինի հետ հանդիպելու նրա ցանկությամբ և անտեսում են հանդիպում կազմակերպելու հրահանգները:
