Հայաստանի Հանրապետական կուսակցության կողմից ՀՀ նախագահի թեկնածու առաջարկված Արմեն Սարգսյանը հանդիպել է Հայաստանում ազգային փոքրամասնությունների ներկայացուցիչներին, ծանոթացել նրանց հուզող խնդիրներին: «Ես խնդրեցի, որ այս հանդիպումը կայանա, քանի որ կարծում եմ` այն շատ էական է: Էական է մի ազգի համար, որն աշխարհով մեկ ունի մեծ սփյուռք: Ես ինքս էլ ընտանիքիս հետ երկար տարիներ ապրել եմ Հայաստանից դուրս ու շատ լավ գիտեմ, որ համայնքը շատ կարևոր է: Ձեզանից յուրաքանչյուրը՝ անկախ նրանից, թե ինչ ազգության է և ինչ անձնագիր է կրում բացի Հայաստանի Հանրապետության անձնագրից, իրեն զգա ՀՀ լիարժեք քաղաքացի»,- past.am-ի փոխանցմամբ` ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմին կից ազգային փոքրամասնությունների ազգային-մշակութային կազմակերպությունների գործունեությունը համակարգող խորհրդի անդամներին ասաց Արմեն Սարգսյանը:

Նրա խոսքով, բազմազգ քաղաքն ու բազմազգ մշակույթը մեծ հարստություն է: Արմեն Սարգսյանը հույս հայտնեց, որ հետագայում ևս առիթ կունենա շփվելու ազգային փոքրամասնությունների ներկայացուցիչների հետ: «Դուք ինձ համար իմ հայրենակիցն եք ու անկախ նրանից` ես կլինեմ ՀՀ նախագահ, թե ոչ, չեմ կարծում, որ մեր հարաբերությունները այսպես կավարտվեն: Առաջ մենք այս խորհրդի կարգավիճակով իրար հետ չենք հանդիպել, բայց ձեզանից շատերին ես անձամբ ճանաչում էի, ոմանք էլ իմ երկար տարիների ընկերներն են եղել»,-հավելեց Արմեն Սարգսյանը:

ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմին կից ազգային փոքրամասնությունների ազգային-մշակութային կազմակերպությունների գործունեությունը համակարգող խորհուրդն ստեղծվել է 2000 թվականին, ունի 22 անդամ, որոնք ընտրված են ազգային փոքրամասնությունների 11 համայնքներից. յուրաքանչյուր համայնքից` երկու հոգի: Խորհրդի անդամ 11 համայնքները ներկայացնող կազմակերպություններին ՀՀ կառավարությունը տարեկան հատկացնում է 20 մլն դրամ` կրթական-մշակութային գործունեությանը նպաստելու համար:

 Հայաստանի Հանրապետական կուսակցությունը ՀՀ նախագահի պաշտոնում առաջարկել է Միացյալ Թագավորությունում ՀՀ դեսպան Արմեն Սարգսյանի թեկնածությունը: Արմեն Սարգսյանը առաջարկի մասին մտածելու համար ժամանակ է խնդրել, իսկ այդ ընթացքում հանդիպումներ է ունենում քաղաքական, հասարակական, գիտական շրջանակների հետ: ՀՀ չորրորդ նախագահին կընտրի Ազգային ժողովը, ընտրությունը կկայանա մարտի 2-ին:
