Արմեն Սարգսյանը Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացիությունից հրաժարվել է 2011թ.
POLITICSՀայաստանի Հանրապետական կուսակցության կողմից ՀՀ նախագահի թեկնածու առաջարկված Արմեն Սարգսյանն անդրադարձել է մամուլում շրջանառվող լուրերին, թե բրիտանական ընկերություններից մեկի փաստաթղթերում ինքը հանդիսանում է Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի, հետևաբար չի կարող առաջադրվել նախագահի պաշտոնում:
Ազգային ժողովում «Ելք» խմբակցության հետ հանդիպումից հետո լրագրողների հետ զրույցում Արմեն Սարգսյանը վստահեցրեց, որ ինքը 2011թ. հրաժարվել է Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացիությունից:
«Այդտեղ, որտեղ դուք խնդիր եք փնտրում, որևէ խնդիր չկա: Այո, ես եղել եմ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի: 2000թ., երբ ազատվեցի Միացյալ Թագավորությունում Հայաստանի դեսպանի պաշտոնից, ես դիմել եմ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացիություն ստանալու համար, և քաղաքացիությունը ստացել եմ 2002թ.: Դրանից հետո քաղաքացիությունից հրաժարվել եմ 2011թ.»,- ընդգծել է Սարգսյանը:
Նա հավելեց, որ տասնյակ ընկերությունների և կազմակերպությունների խորհրդի անդամ է եղել:
«Ինչ-որ տեղեր գրանցված է եղել, որ ես բրիտանացի եմ, իսկ ինչ-որ տեղեր գրանցված է եղել, որ հայ եմ: 2011թ. Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացիությունից հրաժարվելուց հետո հայտարարություն չեմ տվել այդ մասին, բայց այդ բոլոր տեղերում ինձ գիտեն որպես Արմեն Սարգսյան, ոչ թե որպես բրիտանացի կամ հայ»,- ասել է նա:
Անդրադառնալով մամուլում տարածված հրապարակմանը, թե ինքը Eurasia House International ընկերության 2014թ. փաստաթղթերում ներկայացված է որպես Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի՝ Արմեն Սարգսյանն ընդգծեց, որ դա իր հիմնադրած կազմակերպությունն է, որը հիմնադրվել է 2000-ականների սկզբին, իսկ դրա դուստր կազմակերպությունը Քեմբրիջի համալսարանի Eurasia centre ինստիտուտն է եղել:
«Այն հարյուրից ավելի հայ երիտասարդների աջակցել է Բրիտանիայում, Հարվարդում և այլ համալսարաններում կրթություն ստանալու հարցում: 2010թ. այդ կազմակերպությունը դադարեցրեց գործունեությունը տարբեր պատճառներով, իսկ մայր ընկերությունը սառեցվեց»,- մանրամասնել է Սարգսյանը:
Հարցին, թե ինչո՞ւ է այդ փաստաթղթերում մնացել, որ ինքը Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի է, եթե 2011թ. հրաժարվել է քաղաքացիությունից, Արմեն Սարգսյանն ասաց, որ եթե հիմա ուրիշ ընկերություններ էլ նայեն, կլինեն փաստաթղթեր, որտեղ ինքը Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացի է ներկայացված:
«Դուք պատկերացնո՞ւմ եք. եթե մեկը հրաժարվեց քաղաքացիությունից, բոլոր տեղերից պետք է նրան դուրս հանե՞ն»,- հարցադրում է կատարել նա:
Արմեն Սարգսյանը պարզաբանեց, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի քաղաքացիություն ստացել է, որովհետև այն ժամանակ իր գործունեության համար անհրաժեշտ է եղել, որպեսզի ճանապարհորդի, տարբեր երկրներում լինի:
«Հրաժարվեցի, որովհետև դրա կարիքն այլևս չկար, ոչ թե նրա համար, որ մտածում էի, որ դուք կորոշեք Սահմանադրություն փոխել, ես պետք է դեսպան դառնամ, հետո էլ՝ նախագահի թեկնածու: Այդ հարցը 2011թ. ինձ համար դրված չէր»,- եզրափակել է Սարգսյանը:
