Սամվել Բաբայանի վերջին խոսքը դատարանում 

«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է. Սամվել Բաբայանի ու մյուսների գործով դատավարությունն ավարտվեց։ Հավանաբար այսօր Կենտրոն և Նորք Մարաշ վարչական շրջանների ընդհանուր իրավասության դատարանում կհայտարարվի դատավճիռը։ Մինչ դատավճիռը երեկ ամբաստանյալներին վերջին խոսքի հնարավորություն տրվեց։ Երկու դրվագով էլ ոչ մեկն իրեն մեղավոր չճանաչեց։

Սամվել Բաբայանը, կրկին հիշեցնելով գործով ուշագրավ ցուցմունքները, պնդեց, որ իրականությանը չի համապատասխանում «Իգլայի» գործով իրեն ուղղված մեղադրանքը։ Շեշտեց, որ նախաքննական ցուցմունքում հայտնել է, որ այն հրթիռ չէ, հրթիռի մասնիկ է։

Սամվել Բաբայանը դատախազ Արամ Արամյանին մեղադրելով պատմությունը չիմանալու մեջ, մեկ անգամ ևս հիշեցրեց իր ով լինելն ու ծավալած գործունեությունը Արցախյան ազատամարտի տարիներին։

Դատախազն իր մեղադրանքում տարակուսանք էր հայտնել, որ պաշտպանության բանակի նախկին ղեկավար Սամվել Բաբայանը «Իգլան» չի տարբերում «տրուբայից»։

«Երբ իմ մասնագիտության կամ 9 տարվա ղեկավարության վրա ինչ–որ մարդ կասկածում է, ես փորձեմ բացատրել: Ես 92 թ. օգոստոսին եմ դարձել բանակի առաջին դեմքը: ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարը հրաժարական էր տվել, իսկ Ղարաբաղի պաշտպանության նախարարն էլ մինչև իմ գալն է եղել, Ջերմուկում բուժվում էր, ու նրան մինչ օրս հեռուստացույցով որպես հերոս են ներկայացնում: 22400 հա տարածքից 12 500 հա տարածքը վերադարձրել եմ ես։ Իմ ղեկավարած «օպերացիաների» ժամանակ 19 ինքնաթիռ է խփվել, 17 ուղղաթիռ, որից 10–ը էդ «իգլաներով»: Եթե դուք պետք է ինձ գնահատական տաք, թե ես ոնց եմ ծառայել էս երկրին, ուրեմն... էն ժամանակ շատ փոքր էիք, տեղը չգիտեիք: Ընդհանրապես ձերբակալման փուլից 2–3 ժամ ինձ հետ խոսել են քաղաքականությունից ու բացատրել են՝ ինչի համար են ինձ բռնել, ես չեմ ուզում էս փուլում դրան անդրադառնալ, բայց փաստերը կան, պաշտպանը ներկա է եղել էդ խոսակցությանը, չեմ ուզում քաղաքականացնել ու խորհուրդ եմ տալիս, Դուք էլ մի քաղաքականացրեք, որովհետև կարող եմ փաստեր բերել, ամաչեք, որ չգիտեք ձեր պատմությունը... Շատ լավ գիտեմ՝ պատվերը որտեղից է գալիս, ականջներն էլ գիտեմ՝ որտեղից է։ Ասում եմ՝ օրենքը կարելի է թեթև շրջանցել, բայց չի կարելի թքել վրան, թքել պետության վրա, եթե ուզում եք պետություն դառնալ։ Բաբայանը մի տարի ավել, մի տարի պակաս նստի, դուք դրանով հարց չեք լուծելու»,– եզրափակեց Սամվել Բաբայանը։
