ՆԱՏՕ-ն հավատարիմ է բաց դռների քաղաքականությանը, սակայն այնպիսի երկրները, ինչպիսիք են Ուկրաինան և Վրաստանը, պատրաստ չեն միանալ դաշինքին: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, վկայակոչելով «ՌԻԱ Նովոստի»-ն, այս մասին հայտարարել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Յենս Ստոլտենբերգը:
Հարցին, թե հնարավոր է Ուկրաինայի և Վրաստանի մուտքը ՆԱՏՕ-ի շարքեր, դաշինքի գլխավոր քարտուղարը շեշտել է, որ երկու պետություններն առաջին հերթին պետք է իրենց հայացքները կենտրոնացնեն պաշտպանության ինստիտուտների արդիականացման, կոռուպցիայի դեմ պայքարի, ինչպես նաև ժողովրդավարության ամրապնդման ուղղությամբ:
Նա հավելել է նաև, որ Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքը նրանց օգնում է այդ բարեփոխումները իրականացնելու համար: «ՆԱՏՕ-ին անդամակցելու համար, պետությունը պետք է անպայման համապատասխանի որոշակի չափանիշների», - ասել է Ստոլտենբերգը:
Միևնույն ժամանակ նա նշել է, որ դաշինքի դռները բաց են: «ՆԱՏՕ-ի դռները բաց են, և դրա լավագույն ապացույցն այն է, որ սառը պատերազմի ավարտից հետո դաշինքի անդամների թիվը գրեթե կրկնապատկվել է», - եզրափակել է դաշինքի գլխավոր քարտուղարը:
