Երեկ դասադուլավոր ուսանողները հանդիպել էին վարչապետ Կարապետյանին, ներկա էին նաև Վիգեն Սարգսյանն ու Լևոն Մկրտչյանը: Բավական երկար տևած հանդիպման ընթացքում ակնհայտ դարձավ, որ շատ հարցերում, մասնավորապես մատուցման հարցում Սարգսյանն ու Կարապետյանը հակասություններ ունեն:

Մինչ այդ էլմամուլում ամենաքննարկվող լուրերից մեկը այն էր, որ Սամվել և Կարեն Կարապետյանները եկել են եզրահանգման, որ ավելի լավ է Սերժ Սարգսյանը շարունակի մնալ վարչապետ: Դատելով արտահոսքի տարածման քանակից, այն համաձայնեցված էր Կարեն Կարապետյանի թիմի հետ:

Սա փաստացի առաջին արտահոսքն է, որտեղ Կարապետյանները փաստացի Սարգսյանի հանդեպ դեմարշից հրաժարվում են և կոպմրոմիսային տարբերակ առաջարկում: Թվում էր, թե ամեն ինչ նորմալ էր, հատկապես Սերժ Սարգսյանի վարչապետության երկրպագուների համար:

Սակայն իրավիճակի հակասականությունը կայանում է նրանում, որ Սերժ Սարգսյանը վարչապետության համար պատրաստում է Վիգեն Սարգսյանին, ինչը Կարապետյանների համար ավելի վտանգավոր է, քան հենց Սերժ Սարգսյանի թեկնածությունը: Դժվար է ասել, սա իսկապես Կարապետյանների բնական ռեակցիան է, և երկու Սարգսյաններից ընտրություն քիչ թե շատ կոմպրոմիսայինի օգտին: Բայց կա ևս մեկ տարբերակ. առաջ տանելով Վիգեն Սարգսյանին, ուժեղացնելով նրան, նրան կարգելով ազգ-բանակ նախագծի կնքահայր, Սարգսյանը նաև ծուղակ լարեց Կարապետյանների համար, որտեղ նրանք ստիպված եղան տարիքն առած, տարբեր համակարգերում ապրած և միշտ բոլորի մեջ ամենակոմպրոսիայինը եղած նախագահին գերադասել ագրեսիվ, երիտասարդ, կոմպրոմիսի չգնացող պաշտպանության նախարարին:
