Ազգային ժողովն առաջին ընթերցմամբ ընդունելու համար  քննարկում է «Հայաստանի Հանրապետության քաղաքացիության մասին» օրենքում փոփոխություններ կատարելու մասին օրենքին նախագիծը: Հիմնական զեկուցող, ՀՀ ոստիկանության պետի տեղակալ Վարդան Եղիազարյանն ընդգծեց, որ օրենքի նախագծի ընդունման անհրաժեշտությունը պայմանավորված է գործող օրենքը 2015թ. սահմանադրական փոփոխություններին համապատասխանեցնելու, ինչպես նաև իրավակիրառ պրակտիկայում առաջացած որոշ օրենսդրական բացերը կարգավորելու անհրաժեշտությամբ: «Նախագծով առաջարկվում է հստակեցնել ՀՀ քաղաքացիներից ծնված երեխաների կողմից քաղաքացիություն ձեռք բերելուն վերաբերվող դրույթները, ինչպես նաև սահմանել ՀՀ քաղաքացի չհանդիսացող ծնողների ազգությամբ հայ երեխաների կողմից ՀՀ քաղաքացիություն ձեռք բերելու առավել պարզեցված ընթացակարգ»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ նշեց փոխոստիկանապետը:

Քաղաքացիություն ստանալու նպատակով հնարավոր ձևական ամուսնությունները բացառելու համար նախատեսվում է ՀՀ քաղաքացու հետ օրենքով սահմանված կարգով առնվազն երկու տարի գրանցված ամուսնության մեջ գտնվելու պահանջ, ընդ որում՝ առնվազն մեկ տարին Հայաստանում գտնվելու պայմանով:

Վերանայվում է ՀՀ քաղաքացիությունը հավաստող փաստաթղթերի ցանկը: Հանվում է քաղաքացիությունը հավաստող վկայականը, քանի որ այն տրամադրման ընթացակարգ օրենսդրությամբ նախատեսված չէ և դրա անհրաժեշտությունը չկա:

ՀՀ քաղաքացիության հիմքերը ճանաչող իրավակարգավորումներն առաջարկվող նախագծով ևս հստակեցվում են:
