Ճապոնիայի տիեզերական գործակալության գիտնականները հսկայական քարանձավ են հայտնաբերել Լուսնի վրա, որը կարող է օրերից մի օր բնակության վայր դառնալ տիեզերագնացների համար՝ պաշտպանելով նրանք վտանգավոր ճառագայթումից և վայրի եղանակային պայմաններից:
Ինչպես հաղորդում է Agence France Presse-ը՝ վկայակոչելով պաշտոնական աղբյուրը, ճապոնական SELENE լուսնային արբանյակից ստացված տվյալները հաստատել են 50 կմ երկարությամբ և 100 մետր լայնությամբ խոռոչի առկայությունը: Ինչպես ենթադրվում է այն իրենից ներկայացնում է 3.5 մլրդ տարի առաջ տեղի ունեցած հրաբխային ակտիվության արդյունքում առաջացած լավային խողովակ:
Ճապոնիայի տիեզերական տարածության հետազոտությունների գործակալության գիտաշխատողի խոսքով՝ լավային խողովակի հավանականության մասին տեղեկությունը վաղուց էր հայտնի գիտությանը, սակայն դրա առկայությունը չէր հաստատվել մինչ օրս:
Հայտնագործության մասին հայտարարությանը նախրոդել էր Ճապոնիայի՝ 2030-ին տիեզերագնացներին Լուսին ուղարկելու մտադրության մասին տեղկությունը:
