ՀՀԿ Գործադիր մարմնի նիստից հետո տեղի ունեցած  ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ կուսակցության խոսնակ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը ասել է, թե ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի 72-րդ նստաշրջանում Սերժ Սարգսյանի ելույթը համահայկական առաջնորդի ելույթ էր: Սա շարունակությունն է այն մոտեցման, որ նախապատրաստվում է արդեն մի քանի ամիս շարունակ ՝ դեմոգրաֆիական խնդիրների, ներգաղթի, Հայաստա-Սփյուռք հարաբերությունների, Հայաստանի բնակչությունը ավելացնելու մասին խոսակցությունների ֆոնին հանրությանը Սերժ Սարգսյանին մատուցել որպես համահայկական թեկնածուի:

Տեխնոլոգիան այս նոր չէ: Ժամանակին այն կիրառել է Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանը, երբ բանտից ազատեց դաշնակցականներին և նրանց ակտիվ մասնակցությամբ ներգրավվեց սփյուռքահայերին Հայաստանի տնտեսական և հասարակական-քաղաքական կյանքին ՝ համազգային թեկնածուի կերպար ձևավորելու համար: Հենց այդ նույն ժամանակ էլ, կասկածելի ծագում ունեցող ֆինանսական աղբյուրներից կառուցվում էր Հյուսիսային պողոտան, որ նաև Քոչարյանի խաղաքարտերից մեկն էր դառնալու:

Իսկ այդ ամենի թիրախը Կարեն Դեմիրճյանն էր ՝ համաժողովրդական թեկնածուն, սովետական միության հայաստանյան դեմքերից մեկը, ում Քոչարյանը հակադրվում էր որպես համազգային թեկնածու: Իսկ Դեմիրճյանի ժամանակներին վերագրվող շինարարական բումին Քոչարյանը պատասխանում էր յուրատեսակ շինարարական ալիքով, որ հետո Տիգրան Սարգսյանի կողմից շինարարական փուչիկ պիտի անվանվեր:

Հիմա էլ Սերժ Սարգսյանն է փորձում մտնել համազգային թեկնածուի կերպարի մեջ: Ինչու՞: Որովհետև հայաստանյան թեկնածու լինելու բոլոր լեգիտիմ շանսերը սպառվել են, հասարակ քաղաքական գործունեության հիմավորումները ձախողվել են ու կարիք կա ստեղծել մեկ այլ, վերհայաստանյան, վերքաղաքական հարթակ ու փորձել այդտեղ ներկայանալ որպես առաջնորդ: Իրավիճակը նման է Քոչարյանի համազգային թեկնածու դառնալու իրավիճակին նաև այնքանով որ Կարեն Կարապետյանն էլ Կարեն Դեմիրճյանի հետ է շատ համեմատվում ՝ զուտ արտաքին տվյալներով: Բացի այդ, վարչապետի հանրային վարկանիշը ևս նրան տեղավորում է երջանկահիշատակ Կարեն Սերոբիչի կողքին ՝ որպես ժողովրդական թեկնածուի: 

Համազգային և ժողովրդական թեկնածուների այս կրկնվող պատմությունը, սակայն, մի տարբերություն ունի: Քոչարյանն ամբողջովին էր մտել համազգային թեկնածուի դերի մեջ ՝ ցեղասպանությունը հռչակել էր առաջնային օրակարգ, հայդատական ոգով ելույթներ էր ունենում: Կերպարն էլ, անզիջում, մաչոյական առաջնորդի կերպարն էլ, հայդատական հռետորաբանության հետ միասին լրացնում էր այն անհրաժեշտ բաների ցանկը, որ սփյուռքին, այսպես ասած վստահություն էր տալիս ՝ լեգիտիմացնել Քոչարյանի համազգային կերպարը ՝ Հայաստան փող բերելով, գնալ-գալով, պրոքոչարյանական դիրքավորվելով:

Սարգսյանի դեպքում այս սցենարը կրկնելը դժվար կլինի: 2008-ին արդեն սև կատու անցել է Սարգսյանի և սփյուռքի միջև: Բացի այդ, իր հռետորաբանությամբ, Սարգսյանն առավել պրագմատիկ ու դիվանագետ է, առանձնապես մաչոյական տեքստեր չկան, հայդատականությունն ընդգծված չէ նրա հռետորաբանության մեջ: Խարիզմայի մասին էլ խոսելու կարիք չկա ՝ Սարգսյանի մոտ այն բացակայել ու բացակայում է հիմնովին:
