Ամերիկյան Apple կորպորացիան գետնին պատահաբար ընկնելու պատճառով վնասվածքներից դիսփլեյի ակտիվ պաշտպանության տեխնոլոգիա է արտոնագրել: Այդ մասին վկայում են ԱՄՆ-ի արտոնագրերի եւ ապրանքանիշների գերատեսչության նյութերը:
Ըստ նոր տեխնոլոգիայի՝ iPhone սմարթֆոնները եւ համանման մյուս գաջեթները հանդերձվում են այնպիսի տարրերով, որոնք կորպուսից դուրս են գալիս ընկնելու ընթացքում՝ կանխելով կարծր մակերեւույթին էկրանի հպվելու հավանականությունը: Պաշտպանիչ տարրերը նախատեսվում է զետեղել սարքի դիմերեսին՝ էկրանի շուրջը: Դրանք շարժման մեջ կդնի փորքիկ էլեկտրաշարժիչը: Պաշտպանիչ բաղադրատարրերի համար որպես նյութ կարող են օգտագործվել պլաստմասաներ, պոլիմերներ, մետաղներ կամ կոմպոզիտային նյութեր, նշվում է արտոնագրում:
