Օգոստոսի 21-ի կեսօրին Բիգ Բենի հռչակավոր զանգը վերջին անգամ կհնչի: Դրանից հետո այն կանջատեն ժամացույցից, որպեսզի ժամացույցը եւ աշտարակը վերականգնեն, հայտնում է BBC-ի ռուսական ծառայությունը:
Ժամացույցի բաղադրիչներն իրարից կանջատեն: Բոլոր 4 թվացույցները կմաքրեն եւ կվերականգնեն:
Խորհրդարանի ներկայացուցիչները հայտարարել են, որ Բիգ Բենի ժամացույցի մեխանիզմը կանգնեցրել են հանուն վերականգնողական աշխատանքները կատարողների անվտանգության:
Համենայնդեպս, վերանորոգման ընթացքում հատուկ դեպքերում զանգը կմիացնեն իր տեղում, օրինակ՝ Նոր տարվա գիշերը կամ մեռելոցին:
Վերականգնողական աշխատանքները 29 մլն ֆուրտ սթերլինգ (մոտ 37 մլն դոլար) կարժենան:
