Պատասխանելով ռուս քաղաքագետ Մոդեստ Կոլերովի այն հայտարարությանը, թե հայկական կողմը բաց է թողել պահը և չի վերարադարձրել Արցախը բանակցությունների սեղանին, Արցախի բանակցային կողմ չլինելու մեղքը բարդել է ադրբեջանական կողմի վրա: Կոլերով-Բաբայան հեռակա բանավեճն ինքնին հետաքրքրական չէ, որովհետև բացի փոխադարձ տողատակերով ակնարկներից, այն այլ բան չի պարունակում:

Հետաքրքրական է մեկ այլ բան՝ ինչպես ստացվեց, որ Արցախը բանակցային կողմ չէ և շատ դժվար է դառնում այն դարձնել բանակցային կողմ: Պիտի նշել, որ Արցախը բանակցային կողմ եղել է, եղել է այդպիսին՝ իբր Արցախը հանձնող Տեր-Պետրոսյանի դիվանագիտական հմտության շնորհիվ: Եվ բանակցություններից դուրս է եկել Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի ջանքերով:

Քոչարյանի պաշտոնական պնդումն այն էր, որ ղարաբաղյան կողմը դե ֆակտո կմնա բանակցային կողմ, բայց դե յուրե դա կանի Հայաստանը, քանի որ տնտեսապես և քաղաքականապես ավելի կայացած և ճանաչված սուբյեկտ է: Քոչարյանի ոչ պաշտոնական մոտեցումն այն էր, որ նա ղարաբաղցի է և կարող է ներկայացնել ղարաբաղյան կողմի շահերն անձամբ: 

Իրավիճակի ամբողջ հակասականությունը կայանում է նրանում, որ Արցախը բանակցությունների սեղանին ամեն գնով պահող Տեր-Պետրոսյանը և Արցախը բանակցային սեղանին վերադարձնելու ուղղությամբ գոնե տեղեկատվական ջանքեր թափող Սարգսյանը ընկալվում են որպես հող հանձնողներ, իսկ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանը, ում օրոք արցախյան կողմը դադարեց ներկայացնել իր շահերն՝ անձամբ, համարվում է առճակատումից չվախեցող, որովհետև համարձակվել է թուրք կամ ադրբեջանցի լրագրողների հարցերին ի պատասխան պորտը տեղը դնող պատասխաններ տալ: Ինչպիսի հերոսություն: 

Ընդհանրապես, թե՛ քաղաքական վերնախավի, թե՛ հասարակության մոտ քաղաքականությունն ու դիվանագիտությունը ընկալվում են որպես տղայականության դրսևորում: Իսկ պահանջարկն, ի վերջո, ձևավորում է առաջարկ ու քաղաքականություն վարելու սխալ ստանդարտներ:

Եվ ինչպես ասում էր Վանո Սիրադեղյանը ՝ « ... միայն թե պետություն ղեկավարելը թաղի լակոտների կռիվ չէ, որ մեր քրֆես ու փախչես»։
