Մանկաբույժը զննեց փոքրիկին և մռայլվեց. հետո բժիշկը մոտեցավ նրա քրոջն ու չհավատաց աչքերին

2007 թ. հուլիսի 4-ին Ալիսա և Մայքլ Դաները երկվորյակ աղջիկներ ունեցան:
Անցավ երկու ամիս, և Ալիսայի ու Մայքլի կյանքը քանդվեց: Մանկաբույժի պլանային հետազոտության ժամանակ բժիշկը Մեդլինին ուլտրաձայնային հետազոտություն արեց: Քաղցկեղ էր:
Մի քանի օր անց նման ախտանիշներ ի հայտ եկան նաև Իզաբելլայի մոտ: Թեստերը ցույց տվեցին, որ նա ևս Մեդլինի պես քաղցկեղի հազվադեպ տեսակով է տառապում:
Այդ ժամանակից քույրերի վիճակը շատ վատացավ: Աղջիկների լյարդը քաղցկեղային բջիջներով լցվեց: Փոքրիկներին մեկուսացրին և քիմիաթերապիա սկսեցին: Նույնիսկ ծնողներին արգելեցին դիպչել երեխաներին:
Մեկ ամիս ինտենսիվ բուժումից հետո աղջիկները նորից միացան: Երբ միասին էին պառկած, փոքրիկները սկսեցին ժպտալ և մի քիչ հրել իրար: Ծնողները հիշում են, որ այդ ժամանակ աղջիկներն ավելի լավ տեսք ունեին:
Մի քանի շաբաթում աղջիկների վիճակը զգալիորեն լավացավ: Ծնողները նրանց տուն տարան: Դեկտեմբերի 14-ին հիվանդանոցից հայտնեցին, որ աղջիկները հաղթահարել էին քաղցկեղը: Այդ ժամանակից շատ տարիներ անցան, այդ ընթացքում աղջիկներն իրենց ծնողներին շատ ուրախություն պարգևեցին:
