Յուրաքանչյուրը, ով երբևէ փորձել է կինոթատրոնում չիպս ուտել, գիտի, թե ինչպիսի սարսափելի ձայներ են գալիս:

Իսկ ինչո՞ւ են չիպսերի տուփերն այդքան «աղմկոտ»: Ամեն ինչ պարզ է. ճռճռացող ձայնը ստիպում է Ձեզ մտածել, որ չիպսերը ևս շատ թարմ են և խրթխրթան: Արտադրողները դիտմամբ են տուփերն այդպիսին պատրաստում, որպեսզի գրգռեն Ձեր ախորժակը:

Չարլզ Սփենսը՝ Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի փորձարարական հոգեբանության պրոֆեսորը, հերթական փորձի ընթացքում մարդկանց խմբին խնդրել է չիպս ուտել ականջակալներ հագած, որպեսզի չկարողանան լսել խրթխրթոցը: Արդյունքում հարցվածների մեծ մասը խոստովանել է, որ առանց ձայնի չիպս ուտելն այնքան էլ հաճելի չէ, քանի որ դրանք անհամ են դառնում:

Պրոֆեսորը եկավ եզրակացության, որ, ինչպես և հոտը, այնպես էլ ձայնը մեծ դեր ունի այն հարցում, թե ինչքան հաճույք ենք մենք ստանում ուտելիքից:

«Ուտելիքի ձայնը նույնպես նշանակություն ունի: Ի դեպ՝ պարզվում է, որ կարևոր է անգամ ուտելիքի տուփի և շրջապատից եկող ձայները: Չիպսերով լի աղմկոտ տուփը ուղղակի բացում է մեր ախորժակը»:

 

«Չիպսերի տուփի երևույթը նման է, օրինակ, շամպայնի խցանի բացելուն. ձայնից հաճույք ենք ստանում, մեզ մոտ մեխանիկորեն որոշակի սպասումներ են առաջանում»:
