Բրիտանացի խորհրդարանականները կվերանայեն Բիգ-Բեն աշտարակի վերականգնման պլանը, որի համաձայն՝ ելնելով անվտանգության նկատառումներից, որոշվել Էր չորս տարվա ընթացքում չօգտվել գլխավոր զանգից: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, օգոստոսի 16-ին հայտնել Է The Guardian թերթը:

Խորհրդարանականների որոշումը հաջորդել Է Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Թերեզա Մեյի հայտարարությանն այն մասին, որ «Բիգ-Բենի համար ճիշտ չի լինի լռել չորս տարի»:

Սկզբնապես ենթադրվում Էր, որ սկսած օգոստոսի 21-ից 13,7 տոննա քաշով ամենախոշոր զանգը կանջատվի ժամացույցի մեխանիզմից, որպեսզի այդ կերպ ապահովվի աշխատողների անվտանգությունը, որոնք կզբաղվեն Մեծ Բրիտանիայի մայրաքաղաքի ամենաճանաչելի խորհրդանիշերից մեկի նորոգմամբ: Այս զանգը տեղադրվել Է 1859 թվականին եւ ավելի ուշ ժողովրդի մեջ կոչվել Բիգ Բեն: Այս անվամբ շատերը զուգորդում են հենց ժամացույցի աշտարակը:

Նախատեսվում Էր, որ աշխատանքների կատարման ընթացքում կդադարեն ղողանջել նաեւ այն չորս զանգերը, որնք հարվածում են յուրաքանչյուր 15 րոպեն մեկ: Սակայն Բիգ Բենի ղողանջը կարելի կլինի լսել, օրինակ՝ Ամանորի տանակատարության ժամանակ:

96 մետր բարձրությամբ՝ Եղիսաբեթի աշտարակի շինարարությունը՝ անգլիացի ճարտարապետ Օգաստես Փյուջինի նախագծով, ավարտվել Է 1858 թվականին: Այն վիկտորյան դարաշրջանի հուշարձան Է եւ ներառված Է ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ի Համաշխարհային ժառանգության օբյեկտների ցանկում: Մինչեւ 2012 թվականը այն կոչվում Էր Վեսթմինսթերի պալատի ժամացույցի աշտարակ: Եղիսաբեթ Բ թագուհու կառավարման 60-ամյակի պատվին այն կոչեցին միապետի անունով, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
