Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի ոստիկանությունը 1987 թվականին ավստրալական այս նահանգի կառավարությանը խորհուրդ է տվել արգելափակել Սիդնեյում խաղատուն կառուցելու Դոնալդ Թրամփի դիմումը՝ կազմակերպված հանցավորության հետ նրա կապերի պատճառով: Այս մասին չորեքշաբթի հայտնել է The Australian պարբերականը, որի տրամադրության ներքո փաստաթղթեր են հայտնվել 30 տարի առաջ Ավստրալիայի խոշորագույն քաղաքում խաղատան կառուցման մրցույթի վերաբերյալ, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
«Սիդնեյում առաջին խաղատան կառուցման եւ կառավարման Դոնալդ Թրամփի ծրագրերը խափանվել են Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի կառավարության կողմից՝ ոստիկանության զեկույցի հիման վրա, որով նախազգուշացվում էր մաֆիայի հետ ԱՄՆ ներկայիս նախագահի կապերի մասին»,- հայտնում է պարբերականը:
Սիդնեյում խաղատան կառուցման հավակնորդները ընկերությունների 4 խումբ էր, այդ թվում՝ Դոնալդ Թրամփի ստեղծած կոնսորցիումը, որն այդ ժամանակ խաղատուն ուներ Ատլանտիկ Սիթիում, եւ ավստրալական կառուցապատող Kern Corporation-ը: Պարբերականը մեջբերում է կատարել Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի կառավարության համար ոստիկանության պատրաստած նյութերից, որոնցում, մասնավորապես, նշված է. «Ատլանտիկ Սիթին Սիդնեյի համար կասկածելի մոդել է, եւ, մեր կարծիքով, Kern-Թրամփ կոնսորցիումը պետք է բացառվի՝ մաֆիայի հետ Թրամփի կապերով պայմանավորված»:
Հետագայում ավստրալական նահանգի իշխանություններն ընդհանրապես հրաժարվել են այս նախագծի իրականացումից, եւ Սիդնեյում առաջին խաղատունը հայտնվել է միայն 1997 թվականին:
