Մինչեւ 2030 թվականը կանանց համար հավասար իրավունքների եւ հնարավորությունների ապահովումը ՄԱԿ-ի նպատակն է: Այդ մասին հայտարարել է կազմակերպության գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան Գի Մունը «Աշխարհի կանայք-2015» զեկույցի շնորհանդեսի ժամանակ, տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով BBC-ին:
ՄԱԿ-ի՝ կանանց իրավունքներին նվիրված առաջին խորհրդաժողովը տեղի է ունեցել Պեկինում 1995 թվականին: Անցած ժամանակաշրջանում, ինչպես նշել է Պան Գի Մունը, էական բարելավումներ են տեղի ունեցել կանանց իրավունքների հարցում:
Չնայած դրան, միլիոնավոր կանայք դեռեւս ենթարկվում են բռնության ու խտրականության, աշխարհում անգրագետների երկու երրորդը կանայք են: Նրանցից շատերը հարկադրված են աշխատել ցածր վճարվող աշխատավարձով: Հարավային Ասիայում եւ Աֆրիկայում լուրջ խնդիր է մնում մահացության բարձր մակարդակը ծննդաբերելիս:
Ընդսմին վերջին քսան տարվա ընթացքում կանանց կյանքի տեւողությունը 64-ից աճել է մինչեւ 72 տարի, իսկ ամուսնության միջին տարիքը, զեկույցի համաձայն, ներկայում 25-ն է:
Բացի այդ, Պան Գի Մունի խոսքով, կանայք վերջին տարիներին նաեւ սկսել են նկատելիորեն ավելի լավ կրթություն ստանալ:
Կանանց իրավունքների վերաբերյալ հաշվետվությունը կազմակերպության կողմից հրապարակվում է հինգ տարին մեկ:
