Դամասկոսի Ազգային թանգարանն այցելուների համար բացվել Է Արեւելյան Գուտա մերձքաղաքային շրջանում ապաԷսկալացման գոտու ստեղծումից հետո: Այդ մասին լրագրողներին հայտնել Է թանգարանի փոխտնօրեն Ջեխա Օբուկախլյան: Նա նշել Է, որ թանգարանը մի քանի տարի փակ Էր պատերազմի պատճառով, եւ աշխատակիցներն զգուշանում Էին, որ զինյալները այցելուների տեսքով կհափշտակեն պատմական արժեքներն ու ցուցանմուշները: Նույնիսկ գնդակոծումների ընթացքում, երբ համալիրը փակ Էր, թանգարանի աշխատողները չԷին լքում այն եւ հերթապահում Էին խմբերով, թաքցնում այն ցուցանմուշները, որոնք կարելի Էր թաքցնել: Թանգարանի աշխատակիցների խոսքով՝ պատերազմի սկսվելուց հետո թանգարան սկսել են ցուցանմուշներ բերել երկրի այլ շրջաններից՝ Իդլիբից, Հալեպից, Դեյր Զորից, Պալմիրայից:

«Ես շատ ուրախ եմ, որ մենք հասցրեցինք պատմական այդ գտածոները դուրս բերել Պալմիրայից, քանի դեռ դրանք չԷին հափշտակել զինյալները: Դա կորուստ կլիներ ամբողջ աշխարհի համար»,-պարզաբանել Է թանգարանի աշխատակից Հալդոն Էսայեդը:

Նա նաեւ հայտնել Է, որ թանգարանում հարմար պահի են սպասում, որպեսզի խաղաղ բնակիչների համար բացեն Սիրիայի տարբեր քաղաքներից փրկված պատմական արժեքների ընդգրկուն ցուցահանդեսը: Էսայեդի խոսքով՝ դա կարող Է տեղի ունենալ մոտ ժամանակներս, քանի որ Արեւելյան Գուտայի ապաԷսկալացման գոտում իրադրությունը կայունացել Է, եւ զինված ընդդիմության զինյալները դադարեցրել են քաղաքի գնդակոծումը, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
