Քաղաքագետ Հրանտ Մելիք-Շահնազարյանի դիտարկմամբ` վերջին շրջանում հաճախակի դարձած թուրք-ադրբեջանական փոխադարձ ռազմական այցելություններն արտացոլվում են հայ-ադրբեջանական  սահմանին սպառնալից կերպով աճող լարվածության մեջ: «Հայկական բանակի կողմից վերջին երկու ամիսներին իրականացված պատժիչ գործողությունները մասամբ կասեցրել են Ադրբեջանի ակտիվությո ւնը: Սակայն, Թուրքիան ամեն կերպ փորձելու է նոր խնդիրներ ստեղծել Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության համար կարևոր նշանակություն ունեցող հարակից  տարածաշրջաններում` դրանով իսկ փորձելով խոչընդոտել ՌԴ կողմից Սիրիայում իրականացվող  ռազմական գործողություններին»,-լրագրողների հետ հոկտեմբերի 19-ին կայացած հանդիպմանը կարծիք հայտնեց նա:

Քաղաքագետը նաև առաջիկայում չի տեսնում ՀՀ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևի հանդիպման հավանականություն: «Մենք տեսանք, որ Նյու Յորքում կայացած Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարների հանդիպումը որևէ արդյունք չտվեց երկու երկրների նախագահների հավանական հանդիպման կազմակերպման առումով, և այդ ուղղությամբ դեռևս պետք է ընթանան քաղաքական խորհրդակցություններ: Միաժամանակ ակնհայտ է, որ խաղաղություն տարածքների դիմաց ադրբեջանական տրամաբանությունը այլևս չի կարող գործել, քանի որ Ադրբեջանն իր գործողությունն երով բոլորին ցույց տվեց, որ չի կարող հանդիսանալ իբրև խաղաղություն արտահանող երկիր»,-շեշտեց Մելիք Շահնազարյանը` հավելելով, որ մեր սահմանների ապահովությունն առաջիկայում պայմանավորված է լինելու ռազմական դիվանագիտության գործոնով, որը հաջողությամբ իրականացնում է Պաշտպանության նախարարությունը: «ՀՀ ՊՆ կողմից իրականացվող գործողությունները այս պահին հանդիսանում են մեր խաղաղության միակ ապավենը. այդ առումով մեր դիվանագիտությունը բավական հետ է մնացել»,-պարզաբանեց բանախոսը:
