ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը որպես բանակի (ցամաքային զորքերի) նախարարի պաշտոնի թեկնածու Է առաջադրել Մարկ Էսպերին՝ Միացյալ Նահանգների ռազմարդյունաբերական հսկայի՝ Raytheon ընկերության նախկին փոխնախագահին: Հուլիսի 19-ին համապատասխան հայտարարությունը տարածել Է Սպիտակ տան մամուլի ծառայությունը:
Ավելի վաղ Թրամփն արդեն այս պաշտոնում առաջարկել Էր ամերիկացի միլիարդատեր-ներդրող Վինսենթ Վիոլային, ինչպես նաեւ Թենեսիի նահանգի Սենատի անդամ Մարկ Գրինին: Առաջինն իր թեկնածությունը հանել Է իր մասնավոր եւ պետական շահերի պոտենցիալ բախման հնարավորության պատճառով, իսկ երկրորդը՝ սեռական փոքրամասնությունների, իսլամի եւ Էվոլյուցիայի տեսության թեմայով արտահայտությունների առանչությամբ իր վրա հարձակումների ֆոնին:
Բանակի նախարարությունը մտնում Է ԱՄՆ-ի պաշտանական գերատեսչության կազմի մեջ: Դրա ղեկավարը պատասխանատու Է, մասնավորապես, ամերիկյան ցամաքային զորքերի նյութա-տեխնիկական ապահովման, ինչպես նաեւ մարդկային եւ ֆինանսական պաշարների համար, որոնք գտնվում են դրանց տնօրինության ներքո: Ռազմաօդային ուժերի, ռազմածովային ուժերի եւ բանակի նախարարները նախագահական կաբինետի անդամներ չեն, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
