Շվեյցարիայի Կրան Մոնտանա քաղաքում Կիպրոսի շուրջ խորհրդաժողովի ապարդյուն ավարտումը, ինչի վրա մեծ հույսեր Էին դրվում, բանակցությունների մասնակիցների կոլեկտիվ ձախողումն Է, այլ ոչ թե կողմերից մեկի մեղքը: Հուլիսի 18-ին այս մասին լրագրողներին հայտնել Է Կիպրոսի հիմնախնդրի կարգավորման գծով ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի հատուկ խորհրդական Էսպեն Բարտ Էյդեն, որը մասնակցել Է Անվտանգության խորհրդի դռնփակ հանդիպմանը:

«Այժմ ժամանակը չԷ մեղադրելու միմյանց, առանց այն Էլ դա բավական Է,- ասել Է նա:- Մենք պետք Է խոստովանենք, որ Կրան Մոնտանայում գործարք կնքելու անընդունակությունը կոլեկտիվ ձախողում Է»: Էյդեն հույս Է հայտնել, որ Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության նախագահ Նիկոս Անաստասիադիսը եւ թուրքական համայնքի ղեկավար Մուստաֆա Աքինջին «հապճեպ եզրակացություններ չեն անի եւ լրջորեն կխորհեն, թե ինչ կարելի Է անել այժմ, երբ Կիպրոսին նվիրված խորհրդաժողովը ձախողվեց»: Նրա խոսքով՝ հաշվի առնելով կղզու եւ նրա շուրջն ստեղծված իրադրությունը՝ չափանց կարեւոր Է, որ նրանք մտածեն, թե ինչպես հասնեն ըմբռնման եւ փոխզիջման, այլ ոչ թե տարաձայնությունների սաստկացման:

ՄԱԿ-ի հովանու ներքո Կիպրոսի շուրջ բանակցությունների փուլը տեղի Է ունեցել հունիսի 28-ից մինչեւ հուլիսի 7-ը Կրան Մոնտանայում: Դրան մասնակցել են հունական համայնքի ղեկավար, Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության նախագահ Նիկոս Անաստասիադիսը, կղզու թուրքական համայնքի ղեկավար Մուստաֆա Աքինջին, Մեծ Բրիտանիայի, Հունաստանի եւ Թուրքիայի ներկայացուցիչները, ինչպես նաեւ Եվրամիության ներկայացուցիչը, որը բանակցությունների Էր հրավիրվել որպես դիտորդ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
