Գիտնականներն Իսպանիայի տարածքում հայտնաբերել են կաթնասունի մնացորդներ, որը Երկրի վրա ապրել է 125 մլն տարի առաջ: Գտածոն նկարագրվում է Nature ամսագրում:
Գտածոյի յուրահատկությունն այն է, որ բուրդը, որով պատված է եղել կենդանին, անսպասելիորեն լավ է պահպանվել:
Հին կաթնասունը կոչվում է Spinolestes xenarthrosus: Այն փոքր կենդանի է եղել՝ ժամանակակից առնետի չափ. դրա երկարությունը եղել է մոտ 24 սմ, քաշը չի գերազանցել 70գ.:
Կմախքի և ծնոտի կառուցվածքը թույլ է տալիս ենթադրել, որ Spinolestes xenarthrosus-ը ստորգետնյա անցումներ է փորել և միջատներով է սնվել: Ավելի վաղ գիտնականների հայտնաբերած ամենահին մորթիները թվագրվել են մոտ 65 մլն տարի առաջ:
