Վերլուծաբանները համոզված են, որ ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Ռեքս Թիլերսոնի մերձավորարևելյան այցը, որի ընթացքում խնդիր էր դրվել նպաստել Պարսից ծոցի երկրների և Քաթարի միջև առաջացած ճգնաժամի հանգուցալուծմանը, անարդյունավետ է անցել: Այս տեսակետի հիմք է հանդիսացել իրավիճակի հանգուցալուծման հարցում փաստացի առաջընթացի բացակայությունը, ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի ակնհայտ վատ տրամադրությունը, և այն հանգամանքը, որ չորս երկրների ներկայացուցիչների հետ հանդիպումից հետո Թիլերսոնը հրաժարվել էր թղթակիցների որևէ հարցի պատասխանել:
 
Առաջին հայացքից՝ այսպես մտածողներն, իհարկե, ճիշտ են: Սաուդյան Արաբիան, ԱՄԷ–ն, Բահրեյնը, Եգիպտոսն ու մյուսները շարունակում են դիվանագիտական շփումներ չունենալ Քաթարի հետ, վերջինիս ենթարկում են ցամաքային, օդային ու ծովային շրջափակման՝ Դոհային նախկինի պես մեղադրելով ահաբեկչության ֆինանսավորման և իրենց 13 կետից բաղկացած պահանջագիրն, ըստ էության, արհամարհելու մեջ: Քաթարն էլ իր հերթին չի հանձնվում, և եթե ամեն բան նույնն է, նշանակում է՝ Թիլերսոնն իսկապես ձախողվել է:
 
Իրականում, սակայն, խնդիրը մեկ այլ հարթություն էլ ունի: Հիշում եք՝ ճգնաժամը սկսվեց ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի՝ Սաուդյան Արաբիա կատարած այցից անմիջապես հետո, ինչը նույն Իրանում և այլուր ընկալվեց որպես Սալման թագավորի քաղաքականության նկատմամբ ամերիկյան ակտիվ օժանդակության դրսևորում: Դրան հետևեցին նաև նախագահ Թրամփի ակնհայտ մեղադրական ակնարկները Քաթարի նկատմամբ, և չնայած շատ չանցած՝ պետքարտուղար Թիլերսոնը ԱՄՆ–ի համար չեզոք միջնորդի դերակատարում ընտրեց, խոսելով բանակցությունների ու երկխոսության անհրաժեշտության մասին, իսկ Պենտագոնը նոր գործարք կնքեց Քաթարի հետ, տպավորությունը չփոխվեց: Այն է՝ ԱՄՆ–ն նույնպես այս ճգնաժամում հակադիր է Քաթարին, հետևաբար՝ կամ ինքն էլ շահագրգիռ չէ խնդրի կարգավորման հարցում, կամ այնքան է պարտական Սալման թագավորին, որ միայն ճգնաժամի հանգուցալուծման ձևական և անարդյունք փորձեր է անում:
 
Բայց Թիլերսոնի այցը շեշտակիորեն փոխեց այս պատկերը: Նա Դոհայում խոսեց Քաթարի էմիրի հետ ահաբեկչության ֆինանսավորման դեմ պայքարի շուրջ ստորագրած փոխըմբռնման հուշագրի մասին, ինչին հետևյալ բացատրությունը տրվեց. «Ես այսօր այստեղ՝ Քաթարում եմ նույն տրամադրությամբ, որով նախագահ Թրամփն էր մայիսին Էր–Ռիադում: ԱՄՆ–ի միակ նպատակն է վերացնել ահաբեկչությունն աշխարհի երեսից»: Եվ թե այս ուղերձն ինչ էր նշանակում՝ ակնհայտ է. ԱՄՆ–ն Էր–Ռիադին շատ հստակ հասկացնում է, որ եթե այնտեղ կարծում են՝ Թրամփն իրենց հետ սուսերով պար էր պարում, որպեսզի անմիջապես հետո Սալման թագավորը առանց այդ էլ անհանգիստ տարածաշրջանում նոր խնդիրներ հարուցի, պիտի նորից մտածի Թրամփի այցի իրական նշանակության մասին: Իսկ դա էլ իր հերթին նշանակում է, որ այժմ արդեն Ծոցի երկրներն ըստ էության կսկսեն մտածել բանակցությունների մասին: Ու երբ խնդիրը վերջապես կարգավորվի, և հետագայում բոլորը սկսեն միմյանց վերահսկել՝ ինչպես փորձագետներն են կանխատեսում, դրանից տարածաշրջանը միայն կշահի:
