Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները, հուլիսի 5-ին Ստամբուլում ձերբակալելով 10 իրավապաշտպանի, որոնցից ութն ազգությամբ թուրք են, նպատակ է ունեցել վախեցնել այդ երկրում գործող իրավապաշտպաններին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին գերմանական Deutsche Welle-ի հետ զրույցում ասել է միջազգային իրավապաշտպան Amnesty International-ի ներկայացուցիչ Էնդրյու Գարդները:
Նա նշել է, որ իրավապաշտպանների գործն ընթանում է գաղտնիության ներքո, հետևաբար իրենք չգիտեն, թե իրականում ինչ մեղադրանքներ են ներկայացված նրանց դեմ: Այն, որ իրավապաշտպաններին մեղադրում են ահաբեկչական խմբավորման անդամ լինելու մեջ, Գարդներն անհեթեթություն է անվանել:
«Այս մարդիկ թիրախավորվել են մարդու իրավունքները պաշտպանելու համար: Այս ճնշումը մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանությամբ զբաղվող կառույցներին ուղղված ուղերձ է: Արվել է նրանց վախեցնելու համար»,- նշել է նա:
Թուրքիայի իրավապահ մարմինները հուլիսի 5-ին Ստամբուլում ձերբակալել են մի խումբ իրավապաշտպանների ու ակտիվիստների: Իրավապաշտպանները հյուրանոցներից մեկում մասնակցում էին մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանությանը նվիրված մի ծրագրի, երբ ոստիկանները հարձակվել և ձերբակալել են տասին: Ձերբակալվածներին չեն ասել, թե ինչ մեղադրանքով են տարվում ոստիկանական բաժանմունք: Հուլիսի 11-ին հայտնի է դարձել նրանց կալանքի ժամկետը ևս մեկ շաբաթով երկարաձգելու որոշման մասին:
Միացյալ Նահանգների պետդեպը կատարվածի առնչությամբ հանդես է եկել հայտարարությամբ՝ կոչ անելով պահպանել Թուրքիայի սահմանադրությամբ երաշխավորված ազատությունները:
