ԱՄՆ-ի «Բաց դռներ» կազմակերպության տվյալներով` միջին հաշվարկով ամեն ամիս 322 քրիստոնյա է նահատակվում հանուն իր հավատքի, 214 եկեղեցի և քրիստոնեական կառույց է կործանվում և 772 տիպի բռնություն է կիրառվում քրիստոնյաների նկատմամբ:

Այս մասին գրում է Horizon Weekly-ն` մեջբերելով ԶԼՄ-ների հետազոտական կենտրոնի տվյալներն ու կենտրոնի հետ զրույցում Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ-ի նախկին դեսպան Ջոն Էվանսին:

Նրա խոսքով` պատմությունը կրկնվում է, և «այսօր այն զուգահեռներ է գծում Միջին Արևելքի և Հայոց ցեղասպանության միջև: Ըստ նախկին դեսպանի` «Իսլամական պետության» իրականացրած ցեղասպանությունը քրիստոնյաների և եզդիների նկատմամբ զարմանալիորեն նման է նրան, ինչ վերապրեցին հայերը մեկ դար առաջ:

Ելույթ ունենալով Վաշինգտոնում հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների 25-ամյակին նվիրված միջոցառման ժամանակ`դիվանագետը համեմատականներ է տարել 1915-ի Հայոց ցեղասպանության և ԻՊ-ի պատճառով մեր օրերում տեղի ունեցող վայրագությունների միջև:

«Ցավոք, ես զուգահեռներ եմ տեսնում: Նկատի ունեմ, նախևառաջ, որ այն ճակատագրի հեգնանքով տեղի ունենում Միջին Արևելքի նույն տարածաշրջանում, ինչպես հայերի, այնպես էլ քրիստոնյա քրդերի դեպքում այսօր»:

Էվանսը շեշտել է նաև, որ 100 տարի առաջ հայերը ստիպված էին փախչել Հալեպ, իսկ այսօր նրանց ժառանգներն ԻՊ-ի գործողությունների պատճառով ստիպված են հետ փախչել Հայաստան:
