Հռոմում Վատիկանի վերահսկողությամբ գործող հիվանդանոցն առաջարկել է ընդունել և հոգալ 10-ամսական բրիտանացի փոքրիկի խնամքը, որին պահում են Լոնդոնի հիվանդանոցներից մեկում:

Ինչպես հաղորդում է CNN-ը, Վատիկանի մանկական հիվանդանոցի տնօրեն Մարիելա Էնոկը նման առաջարկով հանդես է եկել երեքշաբթի, քանի որ լոնդոնյան բուժհաստատությունում որոշում են կայացրել անջատել մահացու հիվանդ երեխային պահող կենսական սարքերը:

Իտալական հիվանդանոցը նման ցանկություն է հայտնել, որպեսզի երեխայի ծնողներն իրենք հնարավորություն ունենան այդ որոշումը կայացնելու:

Նշվում է, որ փոքրիկը հազվադեպ գենետիկ խանգարում ունի, որը կոչվում է միտոխոնդրիալ ԴՆԹ-ի սպառման համախտանիշ: Այն հանգեցնում է թույլ մկանային համակարգի և օրգանների գործառույթի խանգարման:

Երեխայի ծնողները թույլտվություն են խնդրել երեխային ԱՄՆ փորձնական բուժման տանելու համար, սակայն Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարանը հիվանդանոցին թույլ է տվել անջատել կենսական ապահովման սարքերը, որոնց շնորհիվ փոքրիկը շնչում է հոկտեմբերից ի վեր:

Շնոզների հուսահատ դիմումը գրավել է Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապի և ԱՄՆ  նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի ուշադրությունը: Լոնդոնյան հիվանդանոցը մտադիր է սարքերն անջատել ուրբաթ:

Հռոմի պապը կիրակնօրյա ելույթում փոքրիկի ծնողներին կոչ է արել «աջակցել և բուժել նրան մինչև վերջ»:
