Հայաստանն այսօր այն հատուկենտ երկրներից է, որը կարողացել է պահպանել իր իրական հոգևոր հարստությունն ու հատկապես կրոնը, դարավոր մշակույթն ու ազգային ավանդույթները: Դրանք պահպանվում են ոչ միայն հենց հայաստանցիների կողմից, այլ նաև սփյուռքում բնակվող հայերի:

 

1. Հայկական հյուրընկալություն

Մեր հյուրասիրության մասին ամբողջ աշխարհում լեգենդներ են պտտվում: Յուրաքանչյուր առիթի ժամանակ այստեղ սեղան է բացվում՝ լինի դա տանը, թե աշխատանքի վայրում: Հայերը կարծում են, որ ինչքան շատ հյուրասիրեն այլոց, այնքան շատ երջանկություն կվերադառնա իրենց:

 

2. Երեխայի ծնունդը

Որպես կանոն՝ հայկական ընտանիքները բազմազավակ են լինում, հատկապես նրանք, որոնք ապրում են գյուղերում: Այստեղ երեխայի ծնունդն իսկական ուրախություն է, հատկապես եթե տղա է լույս աշխարհ գալիս: Ընդունված է երեխային ցույց չտալ օտար մարդկանց, քանի դեռ չի լրացել նրա 40 օրականը: Հին ժամանակներում այն տան դիմաց, որտեղ երեխան ծնվում էր, երաժշտություն էին միացնում, իսկ տունը զարդարում էին կանաչ ճյուղերով՝ որպես ծննդյան շարունակության նշան:

 

3. Հայկական հարսանիքներ

Մեզ մոտ հարսանիքները մեծ շուքով են նշվում: Մեր օրերում այլևս արդիական չէ այն սովորույթը, որի ժամանակ հարսանիքը նշում էին ողջ գյուղով մի քանի օր շարունակ, սակայն, միևնույն է, հյուրերը մինչ այսօր էլ շատ են լինում: Քավորն ու քավորկինը զույգին հարազատ մարդիկ են լինում, որոնք պետք է հետևեն, որ նորակազմ ընտանիքը ամուր լինի և զարգանա: Ամենաթանկարժեք նվերը հիմնականում հենց նրանք են տալիս: Նորապսակներին ընդունված է թանկարժեք իրեր նվիրել, գումար կամ էլ տնային օգտագործման համար նախատեսված պարագաներ: Հարսանեկան արարողության հաջորդ օրը փեսայի կողմից կանայք են այցելում նորպսակների տուն՝ իրենց հետ բերելով կարմիր խնձոր՝ հարսի մաքրության և անմեղության նշանը:

 

4. Գինեգործություն և կոնյակի արտադրություն

Յուրաքանչյուր հայ գիտի, որ երբ Նոյը կանգ առավ Արարատի վրա, առաջին հերթին այնտեղ խաղողի որթ տնկեց: Իսկ ավանդական գինեգործությունն այստեղ շատ վաղուց է զարգացել: Մի քանի ուսումնասիրություններ ասում են, որ Հայաստանում գինի սկսվել է արտադրվել դեռևս մ.թ.ա. XI-X դարերում: Տեղի խաղողի տեսակների առանձնահատկությունն այն է, որ դրանց մեջ մեծ քանակությամբ շաքար է պարունակվում, որը մշակման ընթացքում մեծ քանակությամբ սպիրտ է արտադրում: Օտարերկրացիներից շատերը Հայաստանն ասոցացնում են անմիջապես կոնյակի հետ: Այս խմիչքի պատրաստումը սկսվել է XIX դարում: Կոնյակի պատրաստման համար օգտագործվում է ամենաբարձր որակի խաղող, որն աճում է Արարատյան դաշտում:

 

5. Ավանդական ազգային տոներ

Փետրվարի վերջին Հայաստանում նշում են Տրնդեզը, որը եկել է հեթանոսական ժամանակներից: Եկեղեցու բակում ընդունված է խարույկ վառել, որի վրայով պետք է թռչեն նորապսակները: Եվս մեկ տոն՝ նվիրված գարնան գալստին՝ Ծաղկազարդը, որի ժամանակ մարդիկ եկեղեցի են այցելում՝ ուռենու ճյուղեր օրհնելու, իսկ չամուսնացածների և երեխաների գլուխներին այդ ճյուղերից հյուսված ծաղկեպսակներ են դնում: Վարդավառը հայերի սիրելի տոնն է, երբ բոլորն իրար վրա ջուր են լցնում՝ լինի դիմացինը ծանոթ, թե անծանոթ: Սուրբ Վալենտինի տոնի նախօրյակին Հայաստանում նշում են Սբ. Սարգսի տոնը: Աղջիկները աղի բլիթ են պատրաստում և ուտում են այն քնելուց առաջ: Համարվում է, որ այն մարդը, ում հետ հետագայում պետք է աղջիկը կապի կյանքը, երազում նրան ջուր կբերի:
