Միջուկային զենքի միավորների ընդհանուր քանակությունը կրճատվում Է, մինչդեռ միջուկային տերություններն զբաղվում են դրա արդիականացմամբ, քանի որ պատրաստ չեն տեսանելի ապագայում հրաժարվելու դրանից: Այս եզրակացությունները բովանդակում է միջուկային սպառրազինությունների դրության մասին հերթական զեկույցը, որը հուլիսի 3-ին հրապարակել է Ստոկհոլմի Խաղաղության խնդիրների հետազոտության միջազգային ինստիտուտը (ՍԻՊՌԻ):  

Այս տարվա սկզբին ինը միջուկային տերությունները՝ ԱՄՆ-ը, Ռուսաստանը, Մեծ Բրիտանիան, Ֆրանսիան, Չինաստանը, Հնդկաստանը, Պակիստանը, Իսրայելը եւ ԿԺԴՀ-ն, ունեն միջուկային զենքի մոտավորապես 4,15 հազար օպերատիվորեն ծավալված միավորներ:  

Մարտագլխիկների միագումար քանակը հավասար է 14 935-ի, ինչը փոքր-ինչ զիջում է 2016 թվականի ցուցանիշին՝ 15 395: Հիմնականում միջուկային զենքի համաշխարհային պաշարների թվային կրճատումը տեղի է ունենում ԱՄՆ-ի եւ Ռուսաստանի հաշվին, որոնց բաժին է ընկնում ընդհանուր զինանոցների շուրջ 93 տոկոսը: Դրա հետ միաժամանակ երկու երկրները՝ թե՛ ԱՄՆ-ը եւ թե՛ Ռուսաստանը, իրականացնում են իրենց միջուկային պաշարների ընդգրկուն եւ թանկարժեք արդիականացում:  

ԱՄՆ-ում 2017 – 2026 թվականներին այդ նպատակով պատրաստ են ծախսելու մինչեւ 400 միլիարդ դոլար: Որոշ գնահատումներով՝ առաջիկա 30 տարիներին այդ ծախսերը կարող են կազմել մինչեւ 1 տրիլիոն դոլար, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
