Սենատում դեմոկրատների ղեկավարն իր աջակցությունն է հայտնել Թուրքիային Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման կոչ անող բանաձևին

ԱՄՆ սենատում դեմոկրատների առաջնորդ Չակ Շումերն իր աջակցությունն է հայտնել բանաձևին, որը կոչ է անում դատապարտել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը և վերջ դնել Թուրքիայի կառավարության ժխտողականության քաղաքականությանը միջազգային հանրության մասնակցությանը: Այդ մասին հայտնել է ԱՄՆ հայ դատի հանձնախումբը:
«Բոլոր երկրները պետք է ճանաչեն Հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ 102 տարի առաջ տեղի ունեցած սարսափելի ցեղասպանությունը: Իմ սրբազան պարտքն է բարձրաձայնել անցյալի սարսափելի իրադարձությունների մասին, ինչպես նաև խոսել նրանց դեմ, ովքեր չեն կարողանում այդ մասին խոսել, և այդ պատճառով ես հպարտորեն իմ ստորագրությունն եմ դնում Սենատի այս բանաձևի տակ: Ես կանգնած եմ ողջ աշխարհի հայ համայնքի հետ՝ հայ ժողովրդի դեմ իրականացված ոճրագործությունները ցեղասպանություն որակելու հարցում»,- ասել է սենատոր Շումերը:
136-րդ բանաձևը այս տարվա ապրիլի 24-ին ներկայացրել է Դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունը ներկայացնող սենատոր Ռոբերտ Մենենդեզը՝ հանրապետական սենատոր Թեդ Քրուզի և դեմոկրատներ Էդ Մարքիի և Թոմ Ուդալի աջակցությամբ:
Բանաձևը կոչ է անում ԱՄՆ նախագահին «աշխատել արդար, կառուցողական, կայուն և տևական հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների հաստատման ուղղությամբ, որը կներառի Թուրքիայի Հանրապետության կառավարության կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին փաստերի լիարժեք ճանաչումը»: Այն նաև հորդորում է, որ ԱՄՆ արտաքին քաղաքականությունն արտացոլի Հայոց ցեղասպանության առնչությամբ մարդու իրավունքներին, մարդկության դեմ հանցագործություններին, էթնիկ զտումներին և ցեղասպանությանը վերաբերող հարցերի վերաբերյալ համապատասխան ըմբռնում:
Հայ դատի հանձնախումբը հիշեցնում է, որ սենատոր Շումերը երկար տարիներ շարունակ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման ակտիվ աջակից է, ամեն տարի միանում է ամերիկահայերի կազմակերպած Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշատակման արարողություններին:
