«Ուկրաինսկայա պրավդա» թերթը հայտնել Է, որ Կիեւում ավտոմեքենայի պայթեցման հետեւանքով զոհվել Է Ուկրաինայի պաշտպանության նախարարության Հետախուզության գլխավոր վարչության հատուկ նշանակության ուժերի ղեկավար Մաքսիմ Շապովալը:
Իր հերթին «Ստրանա.ua»-ն՝ հաստատելով որ ավտոմեքենայի ղեկին եղել Է Շապովալը, գրում Է, որ նա Հետախուզության գլխավոր վարչության պահեստազորի պետն Է: Պորտալը նշում Է, որ հայտնաբերվել Է զոհվածի ծառայողական վկայականը: Ինչպես փոխանցում Է 112.ua-ն, Ուկրաինայի ՆԳ նախարարության հաղորդակցությունների դեպարտամենտի տնօրեն Արտյոմ Շեւչենկոն առայժմ հայտարարել Է միայն, որ մեքենայում, որտեղ գործել Է պայթուցիկ սարքը, գտնվում Էր 1978 թվականին ծնված ուկրաինացի մի զինծառայող: Տեղի ունեցածը որակված Է որպես ահաբեկչական գործողություն:
