Եվրոպայի եկեղեցիների միությունը քննադատել է Թուրքիային բյուզանդական Այա Սոֆիա տաճարում մահմեդական աղոթք և Ղուրանից ընթերցումներ անելու կապակցությամբ, ինչի առիթով իր դժգոհությունն էր արտահայտել նաև Հունաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը: Այս մասին գրում է Sputnik-ի թուրքական ծառայությունը:

Նշենք, որ նշանավոր բյուզանդական կառույցում, որն ի սկզբանե եղել է հունական ուղղափառ եկեղեցի, մահմեդականների համար սրբազան համարվող Ռամադանի ամսում թուրք հոգևորականները նամազ են արել և Ղուրանի պատգամներ ընթերցել:

Ի պատասխան Հունաստանի հանդիմանությանը՝ Թուրքիայի ԱԳՆ-ից պատասխանել են, որ Հունաստանը նման հայտարարության փոխարեն նախ պետք է շնորհավորեր թուրք ժողովրդին Ռամադանի սրբազան ամսվա առիթով:

Թուրքիան կոչ է արել Հունաստանին հարգալից լինել բոլոր ժողովուրդների կրոնների հանդեպ և «ավելի ժողովրդավար» երկրի պես իրեն պահել:

Եվրոպայի եկեղեցիների միությունը, քննադատելով Թուրքիային, հայտարարել է, որ այդ երկիրը խաղում է մարդկային ամենաբարձր արժեքների հետ և դրանք դարձնում քաղաքական խաղալիք:

Նշենք, որ Այա Սոֆիան Բյուզանդիայի «ոսկեդարի» խորհրդանիշն է, Բյուզանդական կայսրության գլխավոր քրիստոնեական տաճարը, Կոստանդնուպոլսի պատրիարքի նստավայր։ Oսմանցի թուրքերի կողմից Բյուզանդիայի մայրաքաղաքի գրավումից հետո ծառայել է որպես մզկիթ, ներկայում թանգարան է։ Իր ներկա տեսքով կառուցվել է 532-537 թթ. Հուստինիանոս Ա կայսեր նախաձեռնությամբ՝ ճարտարապետներ Իսիդոր Միլեթացու և Անթիմիոս Թրալացու կողմից։
