Եթե ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին հաջողվի լուծել ԿԺԴՀ-ի միջուկային խնդիրը, բարձրացնել անվտանգությունը Կորեական թերակղզում՝ դա կդառնա ԱՄՆ նախագահի ամենամեծ ձեռքբերումը։ Այս մասին CBSNews-ին տված հարցազրույցում հայտնել է Հարավային Կորեայի նախագահ Մուն Ջեինը։

Նա նշել է, որ համաձայն է Թրամփի հետ այն հարցում, որ Փհենյանի հետ երկխոսությունը պետք է անցնի որոշակի պայմաններում՝ հաշվի առնելով, որ պատժամիջոցներն ու միջազգային ճնշումը չեն լուծել իրավիճակը։ «Նախ մենք պետք է հասնենք նրան, որ Հյուսիսային Կորեայի հրթիռային ու միջուկային ծրագիրը սառեցվի, իսկ հետագայում էլ հասնել դրա ամբողջական վերացմանը։ Ես վստահ եմ, որ նման փուլային մոտեցումը աջակցում են նույնիսկ ԱՄՆ-ում»,- նշել է նա։

Մեկնաբանելով Թրամփի հայտարարությունը խնդրի լուծման համար ԿԺԴՀ-ի առաջնորդի հետ հանդիպելու պատրաստակամության մասին, Ջեինը ասել է․ «Նա (Թրամփը)ասել է, ո ր իր համար պատիվ կլինի Կիմ Չեն Ընի հետ հանդիպելը։ Դրա համար էլ ես կարծում եմ, որ նախագահ Թրամփը ինձնից հեռու է գնացել»,- ասել է նա։

Ջեինը նաեւ Փհենյանին կոչ է արել անհապաղ ազատ արձակել ԱՄՆ-ի ու Հարավային Կորեայի բոլոր քաղաքացիներին։ Նրա խոսքով Հյուսիսային Կորեան է մեծամասամբ պատասխանատու ամերիկացի ուսանողի մահվան համար։ Սակայն նա նշել է, որ «մենք չենք կարող հաստատ ասել, որ նրան / ուսանողին/ սպանել է Հյուսիսային Կորեան»։

Հիշեցնենք, որ ամերիկացի Օտտո Ուորմբիերը մահացել է, Հյուսիսային Կորեայից ԱՄՆ տեղափոխվելուց մեկ շաբաթ անց։

Անցած շաբաթ Օտտոն ազատ է արձակվել Հյուսիսային Կորեայից ու տեղափոխվել հայրենիք կոմայի վիճակում։ Փհենյանի վարկածով, Ուորմբիրը բոտուլիզմով է հիվանդացել բանտում, քնաբեր է ընդունել ու կոմայի մեջ ընկել ։ Դա մոտ մեկ տարի առաջ է տեղի ունեցել։ Անցած շաբաթ ԱՄՆ Պետդեպարտամենտը հայտնել է, որ հաջողվել է պայմանավորվել երիտասարդի ազատ արձակման մասին, որին 15 տարվա ուղղիչ աշխատանքների էին դատապարտել։ ԿԺԴՀ-ի իշխանությունները նրան մեղադրել էին «հակապետական գործողությունների» մեջ, քանի որ երիտասարդը պատռել էր քարոզչական պաստառը։
