Բանանը պարունակում է 105 կալորիա, որոնցից միայն 3-ն է օրգանիզմը ստանում ճարպերից: Մեծ մասամբ բանանի կալորիաները ստացվում են ածխաջրերից, որոնք վերածվում են էներգիա ստանալու համար անհրաժեշտ գլյուկոզայի: Միայն այս սահմանն անցնելու դեպքում է այն սկսում կուտակվել ճարպերի տեսքով: Բանանն ապահովում են առողջ քաշի համար անհրաժեշտ սնուցումն ու էներգիան, իսկ ցանկացած ավելցուկ հանգեցնում է քաշի ավելացման:

Բժիշկ Ջենարդինա Հեբարը բացատրում է, որ ինչպես և ցանկացած այլ մթերքի դեպքում, բանանները չարաշահելիս կարող են առաջացնել կողմնակի բարդությունները: Բանանի պարունակած կալորիաները չպետք է անհանգստացնեն մարդկանց, քանի որ դրանց միայն չնչին մասն է ստացվում ճարպերից: Բացի այդ, չպետք է անհանգստացնեն նաև ածխաջրերը, քանի որ դրանք վերածվում են գլյուկազայի և դառնում էներգիայի աղբյուր: Ընդ որում՝ գլյուկոզան հարկավոր է ոչ միայն մարմնին, այլև գլխուղեղին, քանի որ հանդիսանում է գլխուղեղի արդյունավետ գործունեության համար անհրաժեշտ էներգիայի հիմնական աղբյուրը:

Բանանները չարաշահելու դեպքում (օրական 2 հատից ավել) հավելյալ գլյուկոզան կուտակվում է մկաններում ու լյարդում գլիկոգենի տեսքով և օգտագործվում է որպես էներգիայի առաջնային աղբյուր: Դիետոլոգները կարծում են, որ մարդը պետք է շատ բանան ուտի, որպեսզի գլյուկոզան կուտակվի ճարպի տեսքով: Ընդ որում՝ դա կախված է մարդու ակտիվությունից, նրա օրգանիզմի նյութափոխանակությունից, տարիքից, մարմնի տեսակից և այլ գործոններից: Դիետոլեգները խորհուրդ են տալիս նախապատվությունը տալ զանազան մրգերին՝ շատ չուտելու և հնարավորինս շատ օգուտ ստանալու համար: Հարկավոր է ընտրել սեզոնային մրգեր և դրանց հետ մեկտեղ օգտագործել մեկ կամ երկու բանան: Այս դեպքում կարելի է չանհանգստանալ գիրանալու մասին:
