 Հինգերորդ սերնդի (5G) շարժական կապը Ճապոնիայի ամբողջ տարածքում մատչելի կլինի 2023 թվականին, իսկ երկրի առանձին շրջաններում դրանից կարելի կլինի օգտվել արդեն 2020 թվականին: Ինչպես հունիսի 7-ին հայտնել Է Nikkei առաջատար գործարար թերթը, Ճապոնիայի գլխավոր գործարկուների եռյակը՝ NTT Docomo-ն, KDDI-ն եւ SoftBank-ը, մտադիր Է ցանցերի արդիականացման համար ներդնել 5 տրիլիոն իեն (շուրջ 45,7 միլիարդ դոլար):

5G-ի ներդրումը, որը թույլ կտա տվյալները հաղորդել 100 անգամ ավելի արագ այժմ օգտագործվող 4G-ի համեմատությամբ, կսկսվի կենտրոնական շրջաններից, առաջին հերթին Տոկիոյում, ինչպես նաեւ 2020 թվականի Օլիմպիադայի եւ Պարաօլիմպիադայի մրցումների անցկացման վայրերում: Ինչպես կարծում են գործարկուները, 5G-ի հետ համատեղելի սարքերի մշակման համար կպահանջվի մոտավորապես մեկ տարի: Համեմատության համար նշենք, որ 4G ձեւաչափի անցման համար Ճապոնիայում ծախսել են 6 տրիլիոն իեն (շուրջ 54,8 միլիարդ դոլար): Նոր սերնդի ցանցերի զարգացումը, փորձագետների կարծիքով՝ «իրերի Համացանցի», անվարորդ ավտոմոբիլների եւ դիստանցիոն բժշկության տեխնոլոգիաների ակտիվ զարգացման հեռանկար Է բացում:
