Исследователи высказались о том, что родителям маленьких детей нужно избегать использования средств гигиены, содержащих фталаты. Эти химические вещества имитируют действие гормонов, что может иметь неприятные последствия в виде различных гормональных расстройств по мере роста и взросления ребенка, считают они.

Особенно коварны в этом плане шампуни. Работа ученых показала, что именно при мытье головы в организм может проникать большое количество нежелательных компонентов. «До 70% косметической продукции, которую мы используем, впитывается в нашу кровь, и кожа головы имеет один из самых высоких показателей поглощения», - отметили ученые.

Самая большая опасность химикатов в том, что они способны скапливаться в организме. Если этот процесс начинается в раннем возрасте, к тому времени, когда ребенок станет подростком, он может поспособствовать разным мозговым нарушениям.

Полученные медиками результаты показали, что молодые девушки, которые имели более высокое содержание четырех фталатов в крови, отличались низким показателем гормона щитовидной железы, известного как FT4. Щитовидная железа  выступает в качестве главного регулятора развития мозга, и отклонения в ее работе будут оказывать негативное влияние на дальнейшее функционирование мозга, заявили авторы работы.
