Հայաստանում Ֆրանսիայի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Ժան-Ֆրանսուա Շարպանտիեն ցավում է ԵԱՀԿ երեւանյան գրասենյակի փակման կապակցությամբ: Նրա խոսքով՝ ոչ միայն Ֆրանսիան, այլեւ մի շարք երկրներ իսկապես ափսոսում են, որ նման որոշում է կայացվել:

«Գրասենյակը միանգամայն կարեւոր եւ հետաքրքիր աշխատանք էր իրականացնում, եւ այն ոչ միայն  ճիշտ կառավարման եւ ժողովրդավարության ոլորտում հաջողված գործունեություն էր կատարում, այլեւ ավելի լայն շրջանակներ էր ընդգրկում, ինչպես բնապահպանությունը, տնտեսությունը եւ այլն: Հատկանշական եմ համարում այն,  որ օրերս ԵԱՀԿ գլխավոր քարտուղարը Հայաստանում էր: Նա հանդիպում ունեցավ երկրի բարձրագույն ղեկավարության հետ, քննարկվեցին մի շարք հարցեր, որոնք հնարավորություն են տալու հետագայում շարունակել համագործակցությունը»,-ընդգծեց նա:

ԵԱՀԿ գլխավոր քարտուղար Լամբերտո Զանիերը մայիսի 18-ին հայտարարեց, որ կազմակերպությունը ստիպված է սկսել ԵԱՀԿ երևանյան գրասենյակի փակման գործընթացը, քանի որ գրասենյակի հետագա մանդատի հետ կապված հնարավոր չի եղել հասնել կոնսենսուսի: 

Հայտարարության մեջ նշված է, որ ԵԱՀԿ երևանյան գրասենյակի փակումը հետևում է մի քանի ամիսների բանակցություններին ու 2016 թվականի ԵԱՀԿ գերմանական նախագահության և 2017 թվականի ԵԱՀԿ ավստրիական նախագահության նշանակալի ջանքերին, որոնք ուղղված էին մանդատի երկարաձգման հետ կապված փակուղու հաղթահարմանը: ԵԱՀԿ-ն իր գրասենյակը Հայաստանում բացել է դեռևս 2000 թվականին: Զանիերը նշել էր, որ ԵԱՀԿ երևանյան գրասենյակն իր նվիրված անձնակազմով նշանակալի ներդրում է ունեցել ԵԱՀԿ-ի առջև ստանձնած Հայաստանի իշխանությունների հանձնառությունների իրականացմանն աջակցության և խորհրդատվության հարցում:
