Հայտնի է Ֆուտբոլի Հայաստանի ազգային թիմի մեկնարկայի կազմը Եվրոպայի առաջնության ընտրական փուլի Պորտուգալայի հետ խաղից առաջ:
Թիը խաղադաշտ դուրս կգա հետևյալ կազմով՝

Առաջին անգամ երկու թիմերն առաջին անգամ հանդիպել են աշխարհ 1998 թվականի առաջնության ընտրական փուլի ժամանակ՝ 1996 թվականին: Երևանի Վազգեն Սարգսյանի անվան Հանրապետական մարզադաշտում կայացած խաղում գրանցվեց ոչ-ոքի՝ 0-0: Պատասխան հանդիպումը կայացավ 1997 թվականին: Պորտուգալական Մետուբալ քաղաքում կայացած խաղում հաղթեցին տան տերերը՝ 3-1 հաշվով:
Երկու թիմերի հաջորդ հանդիպումը կայացավ Եվրո-2008 ընտրական փուլի շրջանակներում: Հայաստանում կայացած խաղում խաղն ավարտվեց 1-1, իսկ պատասխան խաղում նվազագույն հաշվով հաղթեցին պորտուգալացիները:
Իսկ ահա Եվրո-2016-ի ընտրական փուլի առաջին հանդիպումը, որը կայացան պորտուգալական Ֆարո քաղաքում ավարտվել էր 1-0 հաշով ի օգուտ մեր մրցակիցների:
Երկու թիմերը մինչ այս անցկացրել են 5 հանդիում: 2 հանդիպում ավարվել է ոչ-ոք, 3 անգամ հաղթել են պորտուգալացիները: Հայաստանի հավաքականը խփել է 2 գնդակ, բաց թողել 6-ը:
