«Ավրորա» մրցանակի հավակնորդը ԵՊԲՀ պատվավոր դոկտոր է

Սուդանի 750 000 բնակիչ ունեցող Նուբա լեռնային շրջանում մշտական աշխատող միակ վիրաբույժ Թոմ Քաթինան, Երեւանի Մխիթար Հերացու անվան պետական բժշկական համալսարանում ուսանողներին պատմեց, թե ինչպես կարելի է հաջողության հասնել սահմանափակ հնարավորություններով: «Ավրորա 2017» մրցանակի հավակնորդը վստահեցրեց ապագա բժիշկներին, որ անգամ մեկուսացված, սահմանափակ հնարավորությունների պայմաններում, պետք չէ հուսահատվել: «Նույնիսկ առանց ժամանակակից գործիքների եւ տեխնոլոգիաների կարելի է բուժել մարդկանց: Ես աշխատում եմ մի վայրում, որտեղ մոտակայքում անգամ բնակավայրեր չկան: Մեր հիվանդանոցում կա 450 մահճակալ, բայց հաճախ մեկ մահճակալի վրա ստիպված ենք լինում տեղավորել մի քանի հիվանդի»,-ասաց նա: Թոմ Քաթինան լուսանկարներով ներկայացրեց, թե ինչպես է բուժել հակահետեւակային արկի պայթյունի հետեւանքով վնա սվածք ստացած զինվորներին, ռմբակոծությունից տուժած երեխաներին ու բորոտությամբ տառապող հիվանդներին: Քանի որ մարդու մարմինն ինքնամոքիչ հատկություն ունի, բժշկի խորհուրդն ապագա մասնագետներին մեկ էր.երբեմն պետք է չխանգարել, թողնել, որ մարմինն ինքնուրույն բուժվի եւ վերականգնվի:
Բժիշկ Թոմ Քաթինան, ում տեղացիները ճանաչում են որպես «Դոկտոր Թոմ», պատերազմը սկսվելուց ի վեր անդադար աշխատել է՝ հնարավորինս մեղմելու պատերազմի սարսափները։ Ռմբակոծության տակ բեկորներ հեռացնելը, վերջույթներ անդամահատելն ու ծնունդներ ընդունելը սովորական բան են դարձել մի մարդու համար, որին Կաթոլիկ առողջապահական առաքելության խորհուրդը (CMMB) տարածաշրջան էր գործուղել դեռեւս խաղաղ ժամանակներում։
Սուդանի կառավարության եւ Սուդանի ազգային ազատագրական շարժման միջեւ բռնկված քաղաքացիական պատերազմի բոլոր տարիներին Թոմն անթիվ մարդկանց կյանքեր է փրկել «Գթության մայր» հիվանդանոցում, որը միակ գործող հիվանդանոցն է ամբողջ տարածաշրջանում։ Երեւանի Մխիթար Հերացու անվան պետական բժշկական համալսարանի գիտխորհրդի որոշմամբ`Թոմ Քաթինային շնորհվեց ԵՊԲՀ պատվավոր դեկտորի կոչում: Բժշկին Հայաստանում գտնվելու ժամանակ փոխարինելու են Սուդան մեկնած երեք հայ մասնագետներ:
