Անհանդուրժողականությունն և բռնությունը Վաշինգթոն բերելով՝ Էրդողանը բռնկեց ամերիկացիների՝ ներառյալ կոնգրեսականների, և լրատվամիջոցների զայրույթը․ Tert.am-ի հետ զրույցում խոսելով ԱՄՆ-ում մայիսի 16-ին Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի թիկնապահների արարքի մասին՝ ասաց Վաշինգտոնի Հայ դատի գրասենյակի գործադիր տնօրեն Արամ Համբարյանը: 

«Մենք իսկապես նախկինում նման բան չէինք տեսել: Ագրեսիան, որն ուղղված էր հայերի, քրդերի կամ նրանց ընդդիմությանը, բերեցին Վաշինգթոն, և մարդիկ իրենց աչքերով տեսան դա»,- ասաց նա՝ նշելով, որ գուցե նախկինում ԱՄՆ-ում մարդիկ չգիտեին, թե ինչպիսին է Թուրքիան և իր ղեկավարությունը: 

Հիշեցնենք, որ Միացյալ Նահանգներում Թուրքիայի դեսպանի նստավայրի մոտակայքում Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի՝ ԱՄՆ այցի դեմ բողոքող խաղաղ ցուցարարների խումբը հարձակման էր ենթարկվել էրդողանամետ խմբերի կողմից։ The Washington Post-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ տեղի ունեցած բախումների հետևանքով 9 մարդ էր վիրավորվել, նրանք տեղափոխվել էին հիվանդանոց: Նրանցից առնվազն մեկը ծանր վիճակում է:  

Ավելի ուշ համացանցում նոր տեսանյութ էր հայտնվել, որում երևում էր, թե ինչպես է Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հեռվից դիտում, թե ինչպես են իր անվտանգության աշխատակիցները Վաշինգտոնում հարձակվում խաղաղ ցուցարարների վրա:

«Թուրքիայի ղեկավարությունը ծախսում է շատ փող PR-ի, լոբբիի վրա: Այս միջադեպը ստիպում է ամերիկացիներին, որ վերագնահատեն թուրքերի կամ նրանց դաշնակիցների ներկայացրածը: Հիմա արդեն միլիոնավոր մարդիկ սոցիալական ցանցերում, լրատվամիջոցներում տեսան, թե ինչպես է Էրդողանը հանձնարարում հարձակվել խաղաղ ցուցարարների վրա»,- ասաց Արամ Համբարյանը: 

Չնայած որ միջադեպի արդյունքում խաղաղ մարդիկ տուժեցին, նրա խոսքով, այն դրական նշանակություն ունեցավ՝ մարդիկ տեսան Թուրքիայի իրական դեմքը: 

Թե ինչ քաղաքական ազդեցություն կունենա միջադեպը հարցին, Արամ Համբարյանը պատասխանեց․«Էրդողանն իսկապես վիրավորել է ամերիկացիներին իրենց հողում: Դա ընկերոջ վարմունք չէ: Վաշինգթոնը քաղաք չէ, որ արտասահմանյան կառավարությունները հարձակումներ անեն: Սա հարգանքի պակասի նշան է, որը անգամ օտարոտի երկրները չէին անի: Բայց երբ դա դաշնակիցն է անում, փոխում է շատ բան: Այն կփոխի շատ բան երկու երկրների հարաբերություններում առկա բոլոր ոլորտներում: Այսուհետ շատ բան տարբեր կլինի»: 

Միջադեպը հետագայում Հայ դատի հանձնախմբին կօգնի՝ բացահայտելու Թուրքիայի իրական դեմքը. Արամ Համբարյանի խոսքով, այս անգամ, անկախ իրենց գործադրած ջանքերից, Թուրքիայի իրական դեմքը բացահայտվեց:  

«Այս միջադեպի ձայնագրությունը, որը տարածվեց հայտնի լրատվամիջոցներով, ցույց տվեց իրականությունը: Առանց այդ տեսանյութի, առանց այլ տեսանյութերի, այս միջադեպն էլ կանցներ, կգնար: Մենք կխոսեինք դրա մասին, բայց Թուրքիայի փիարը կաշխատեր և արդյունք չէինք ունենա: Բայց տեսանյութը փոխեց ամեն ինչ»,-ասաց նա։ 

Դիտարկումներին, թե Էրդողանը նման քայլի է դիմել, քանի որ ձախողվել էր նրա հանդիպումը ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ, Արամ Համբարյանը պատասխանեց․ «Դա կարևոր չէ: Նա իրավունք չուներ այդպես անելու: Տխուր ես, զայրացած ես, նշանակություն չունի, իրավունք չունես մարդկանց ծեծել: Իր երկրում աներ, նորից սխալ էր, բայց կանցներ: Ուրիշ բան է, որ այլ երկրում ես դա անում: Դա ամբարտավանություն է»: 

Թե ինչու Թուրքիայի ղեկավարությունը չարձագանքեց միջադեպին բարձր մակարդակով, Վաշինգթոնում Հայ դատի հանձնախմբի տնօրենը պատասխանեց․«Թուրքիան դեռ կարողանում է կաշառել մարդկանց Վաշինգթոնում: Դժբախտաբար ԱՄՆ-ի կառավարության պատասխանը միջադեպին շատ թույլ էր»:
