Վերջին շրջանում տեղեկություններ էին շրջանառվում, որ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանի և Իշխան Զաքարյանի հարաբերությունները լարվել են, թեև ոչ ոք չգիտեր, թե ինչ «սև կատու» է անցել նրանց միջով։ Ընդամենը գուշակում էին, թե պատճառը Զաքարյանի կապերն են Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի հետ։
Սակայն ապրիլի 2-ից հետո սկսեցին լուրեր շրջանառվել, որ այլևս Զաքարյանը չէ ընդդիմությանը տրվելիք ԱԺ փոխնախագահի պաշտոնի հավակնորդը։ Այլ անուններ շրջանառվեցին՝ Վարդան Բոստանջյան, Միքայել Մելքումյան։ Ի վերջո, հաստատվեց, որ անշարժ գույքի մեծ մասնագետ, տնտեսագետ Մելքումյանն է դառնալու։ Նախօրեին, ճիշտ է՝ «կանյաչնիում» Իշխան Զաքարյանը ներկա էր, սակայն նկատելիորեն անտրամադիր էր։ Իսկ երեկ չէր մասնակցում ԱԺ նիստին։
Երբ լրագրողը փորձել է առաջնորդից տեղեկանալ, թե ինչու չկա Զաքարյանը, Ծառուկյանը զայրացել է, թե՝ զանգեք իրենից հարցրեք։ Որքան էլ ՎՊ նախկին նախագահը նեղ շրջապատում հայտարարի, թե «իրեն չէր սազի ընդդիմության փոխնախագահը լինել՝ ողջ կյանքում պետական պաշտոն է զբաղեցրել», հասկանալի է, որ դա չէ իրականությունը:
«Հրապարակ»-ի տեղեկություններով, նա երկար չի մնալու ԱԺ-ում, գործադիրում պաշտոն կառաջարկեն։ Վերջերս, ըստ լուրերի, նա հանդիպել է Սերժ Սարգսյանի հետ։ Իշխանությունը Զաքարյանից դժգոհություններ չունի։
